Root Installing 2.3.5 gingerbread MIUI

followed the video exactly. when i reboot into recovery, i'll get one error message when it starts:
--Install from package...
Finding/opening update package...
E: can't open /cache/update.zip
(bad)

--Appling Muti-CSC...
Installing muti-CSC
Installation aborted
what update do i need to put in m cache?

then when i select reinstall packages, i get this message:
Finding/opening update package...
E: can't open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip
(no such file or directory)
Installation aborted.

i get that message from the blue recovery screen every time

maybe you have a corrupted download. have you deleted your modded 3e and redownloaded and tried that.

If you aren't afraid of bricking or you are comfortable unbricking. like i said in earlier post installed infused rom (3e recovery is included.)

Edit: i think you can just flash the community kernel and it has the modded 3e on it. not sure but I think so if i remember right.

Here are the steps I took to get all this working on my Infuse.

Do a full backup and copy the backup to your computer. Unless you don't care about what's on there now.

Use this to return the phone to stock:
[ODIN][UCKD5] Odin - Stock (100% or Root+3e) - (Update 06/05/11) - xda-developers

Then format the SD cards.
Then root the phone.
Then install "Root Manager" so you can access/copy files around (costs a couple $ but worth it).
Then install ROM Manager.
Then install ROM Manager Premium (also a couple $ but worth it).
Then install Clockwork mod.
Then do the "3E fix" step by step using the video method.
Now you should be able to install the ROM.

If it's the stock AT&T 2.3.5 ROM, then I recommend against it. Buggy as heck and didn't work at all well for me.
I couldn't get CM7 to work with bluetooth for my car radio but it worked okay otherwise.
MYUI also doesn't work w/bluetooth (last I checked).
I installed Infused V2 ROM and it's been perfect.

correct but sometimes the download gets corrupted i would start by redownloading

Edit look at the bright side, once you figure this out you will be able to do it in your sleep lol

im getting the same messages about internal_sd/update.zip

ive done all that except for rom manager premium, which no other site has recommended, its that completely necessary?

gtg's 2.2.3 is very stable. no hdmi. every now and then and andriod os goes crazy on the battery for some though. easiest fix ever. power off and manually pull battery for a few minutes. then reinstall and reboot and go to go.

Edit: I forgot you want Miui. It is okay and stable too. It has its pluses and minuses. I personally like gtg's better for me. Everyone has different needs though.

the youtube video that you posted. do you see at the bottom those zip files. that is cwm he can reinstall all of those at his wish. you just loaded update.infused v2.2.3. he has quite a few. miui, s7, dlev, gs infused, etc.. he can also backup his roms by date (default) I go into rom manager to rename leaving the date but adding the rom so I know more about it.

Congrats. I really like the one you are on but it fits me best.

Miui is not based on samsung 2.3.5 so somethings are not going to work. you cannot change the kernel. play with this rom for a few days while you read up on miui to see if you can live without somethings (XDA is the site with the most info). miui is cool because everything is customizable though.
