***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I don't see anybody saying you should settle for anything. I see some people saying they want some particular technical feature (4212, quad-core, whatever), and others saying you can't have it because it isn't yet available from the manufacturer or isn't compatible with some other component. That's not negativity, just the market reality.

If you want more than the Prime offers, by all means wait until the phone you want is released, either on the same or a different carrier.

So what's the problem?

Yeah, I think very few folks will tell you to settle, but I'm sure that several will try to encourage you to be realistic. If you're always looking at what's coming up in three months, you'll never get anything.

Good things come to those who wait, nothing comes to those who wait too long.

I'm back :D

Did you miss me and my GPU (yeah GPU [for 3d games],not CPU, i guess the OMAP 4460 will have a good CPU-performance)-talk ? :D

OMAP 4470 has 2 low-powered cores and one single 2d-dedicated graphics core...

so this should be (at least) as power efficient as the exynos 4212 with it's 32nm production...

For high performance 2x 1.8GHz Cores + PowerVr SGX544 should be enough for my, too...

Furthermore the OMAP 4470 does support LTE, too.

And as it's already mentioned the 4470 was sampled since 2H 2011, so it's not wrong to keep it as an option :D

In Conclusion: when the NP (GSM-Version for Europe) comes with either the exynos 4212 (which of course would be a little better) or the OMAP 4470 [and of course a microSD-card-slot, i can't use those cloud-applications with my small, limited internet-flat] i'd b a happy buyer :)

[Yeah nothing really new from me, but i had to read ~8 whole pages that i missed while i've been asleep and i already forgot what some of you mentioned on the first f those 8 pages :D]

Ps: 99,9% of my done posts are in this very Thread and 1 single post is in the Thread about whether the NP will be LTE enabled :D

-> I'm a kind of a NP-nerd lol and spend too much of my free time in this thread lol :D

well, r4yn. I'm going to assume this thread is populated by mostly residents of the US, so it slows down a lot at these hours. Me on the other hand am one of the only US residents who doesnt have a morning job. so I spend most of my time catching up on this thread when everyone's in bed.
Maybe you can keep me company?
On topic. 58's source was using a unit with a 4460 in it. Although that doesnt mean the final production version will have it, it's a pretty good guess that it will. But, But! their is a higher chance the gsm/europe version migt have a 4470.

If that leaked video/pic of the NP with ICS running on it was of the final version we would expect to see an led indicator on it right? I zoomed and and tried to see if I could see it...I saw the front cam on top right but no led indicator...could anyone spot it? Or maybe its not the final version which I expect since the body doesn't match the official leaked side profile shot either

Go to the first page of this thread and look at the 2nd picture. (In the guys hand) and look closely about halfway between the camera and the speaker I see a dot that could more than likely be the led indicator. What do you think?

that's what im hoping for...[or as already mentioned: the exynos 4212, i haven't stop hoping for it yet :D] but the question is: when will it arrive here in europe?

november would be so damn nice, but as verizon gets it 'lower'-equiped device in november i assume that i'll see my device as early as december :(

edit: also i'm kinda nervous if the GSM-model will be LTE ready... on the one hand the FCC documents don't list any LTE-frequencies, but on the other hand they are not able to check on the european LTE-frequencies :/

the battery and the sd-card-slot are also a kind of scary...

damn i want samsung and google to finally announce the NP so bad !

Oh there were several posts I've read and if I wanted to single people out I would've. This is the way it goes...rumored phone has little solid info, specs get thrown around and people want to justify their own purchases by telling others that the specs don't matter once less than desired specs are announced (or leaked).

Now I don't have a problem with people voicing their opinions but that isn't always reciprocated.

I think we have reason to not be thrilled they chose the 4460 for the Google flagship phone. The 4460 is an overclocked 4430 and I'm running that in my Droid 3. While we are talking about twice the RAM, and higher clock speeds, I've not been impressed with the D3. My Tbolt is a faster device for everyday functions even at the same clock speed. And the Tbolt has a single core Qualcom cpu.

No bloated skin will help and I hope the Nexus S will perform well even if I choose to pass on it. If everyone would just like to talk about the up sides of the device (which are many) we can do that. :)

droid-life's rumor was that there was an led notification at the bottom center of the phone. seemed odd to me that they'd put one down there since some (if not all) of the gs2 models have it at the top, and that would require a redesign. anyways, i played with the contrast a bit and i faintly see a proximity sensor and led notification between the cam and speaker grill. could be my eyes...what's everyone think?

Hey, you're not over there, us UK folk are as desperate as our US friends!

Lets talk battery power. I have a Mophi Juice Pack Air on my IP4. It basically doubles the battery life to about 2800maH( approx ). I seldom check my battery because I have never run out during the day and I leave my phone on a lot and use apps like a golf gps program that is on for 5 hours with heavy GPS use. The IP4 has the 40 pin connector at the bottom that the JPA slides into. It does add about double the thickness to my IP4, but the tradeoff makes it worthwhile for me. For phones with removable batteries, like the Nexus Prime is supposed to have, don't worry about power. Samsung will probably come out with an extended battery and back cover, like the Nexus S. Seidio will also come out with a big boy battery, probably close to 3800 maH. Sure, you will have a tradeoff, giving up the thinness for greatly improved battery life. For me, the tradeoff is well worth it. The NP will probably suck some power, because the user will be using more features more often.

Like many have pointed out, there's always going to be the next best thing around the corner. But silliness of waiting for it only applies if the wait-time equals the technological step to it. Regards to CPU/GPU, here we might be looking at 1-2 YEARS of technological advancement for waiting 2-3 months.

I guess for me it's about minimizing buyer's remorse for as long as I can, but yeah I still might get the NP just for pure android.

I can not believe how deep the BS is in here.
Two weeks ago there were people in here arguing about the Ti processor would not be in the device they claimed that there was a shortage and the chip would not be available. Now the same people are saying that it will be a TI chip. And the same was said about the Exynos as well.
" still sampling,Blah, blah, blah " In either case you made a fool of you self. Because it will have one or the other.

And then you have people not sticking to there so called sources jumping ship on everything including ICS.

The point is there are opinions, rumors and just plain stupidness.:p

I heard from our inside source just now:

2 days later and no announcement...are we still saying the announcement is "imminent"? I know Google has their earnings call tonight, I would have thought for sure they would have an announcement out before then. It's taking them a long time to reschedule this thing, I'm starting to wonder if there isn't more than just mourning Mr. Jobs going on here.

I have been a member since I started rooting my OG Droid and I was on that bandwagon pretty early. I do not get to post too much but you guys are very entertaining and informative. Thank you all!

I am a bit confused by some of the speculation about the 4460 being underclocked to 1.2. I would assume that it does not make much sense for stability reasons because is that not the point of using the 4460 over the 4430? I assumed (and likely incorrectly) that the whole point to TI releasing a 4460 was to assure that it had an acceptable failure rate at 1.5. Otherwise why not just overclock the 4430 since it appears there is very little difference between them. The same could be said for the potential for battery life gain, no?

The lack of SD card slot makes little sense to me as well. For that other product it makes business sense because they can sell the larger storage sizes for a higher profit. But if only one model is being released here then I do not see the point. Unless it is to derive profit from the cloud services but then why not make that a feature of Android OS to not support SD expansion?

I am almost 100% upgading to this device as it will be a major upgrade for me any way you look at it. I just cannot deal with a major let down again this fall (I am from Philly and a big sports fan...need I say more ).

I see the area you are talking about but I see a similar area in the middle at the bottom. I'm thinking the one besides the cam on the top is a light sensor and the one on the bottom is in fact the led notification.
