3G on Samsung Admire Here is the 3022.prl

I did everything and used the 3024.prl. I still only have 1 in Las Vegas area. My metropcs rep mentioned something about the towers getting upgraded to 4g and 1x is only a "little" slower than 3G lol. I'm thinking im SOL for now. Is it worthwhile to try 3022 instead? If so, do I just do the same procedure that I did to get it to 3024 or rollback to 3019 first?

1. Installed QPST.

2. From the start menu I found the QPST folder and started QPST Configuration

3. Had my Admire connected and opened Device Manager and expanded the Ports icon. I took note of the COM number listed beside the DBAdapter Reserved Interface, which in my case was (COM15)

4. In QPST Configuration I clicked Add New Port at the bottom right and selected the COM15 and enabled it.

5. After that I went back to the start menu,QPST and opened Service Programming. A box popped up asking for a phone and since I only had the one I just clicked OK and a new box with alot of tabs opened.

6. If you go to the Roam tab at the bottom there is a Preferred Roaming area with an area asking for a file. Browse for the PRL and when finished click the Write to Phone button at the bottom of the window. It will ask for your SPC. After that it writes to the phone and the phone reboots on its own. You should let it reboot fully and not unplug it from the computer or mess with QPST while it's doing so.

When the phone is done booting you can close the program and unhook the phone. It took about 10 minutes for data to start working but 3G works fine on it when I'm in a 3G area. My Ascend is using the bloatware free stock 2.2 ROM found on here and I've had no problems for the week with it. Hopefully this can be helpful for someone and sorry if it's not made out too well, pretty bad at explaining things :p

3023.prl
QPST_v2.7_Build_301.exe

HELPED ME OUT ALOT..I was stuck on the SPC part because it wouldn't let me type in all 6 numbers. Kept stopping me at 5 ! But just highlighted all the numbers and kept trying lol..Got it all set now ! Waiting for a response from 3g now see what happens. Thank you !

ahahahah I have no idea what I'm doing...but with the 3024 PRL I went 1X -> 3G, however my suspicion is still 1X speeds. Still, I do feel that I'm probably getting the best speed that is available atm. Thank you for the instructions! :)

Near Sacramento, CA.

I got a wide variety of speeds on 2 bars;

dslreports ~ 400+ kbps
Manually: 2 Megabytes in 12 seconds (after clearing cache; that doesn't seem right...?)
my3gspeed.com ~ 1150 kbps (wat?)
speedtest.net app 10 - 200kbps (hmm)

what is it and how do I know which one my phone is on???

Its speed setting for your phone..Follow the instructions and install 3024 prl, when its installed go to menu -> settings -> phone info and scroll down it will say 03024 on the prl setting if you did it right.

It's suppose to give you 3g speeds but some places dont carry it.

I got the Samsung Admire for Metro, and I want to figure out if its possible to get 3G speeds. I live in Massachusetts, south of Boston. From maps on different sites it says that Boston is a home network for Metro.
I have read a few theads so far about changing the PRL manually. I am sorta nervous though to change files within the phone because I have never done this before and this is my first android phone. I got it about a month ago.

What PRL do you have on your phone? It is also possible that MetroPCS has not yet deployed 3G on your location. To check you need to have the latest 3025 PRL

ok i have a question about these PRL updates.... whats the different between having PRL3020-3025? faster 3g? im in sacramento area and was able to get 3G with PRL3020, my phone updated itself from prl3019 to 3020 after i rooted it by itself n kept updating on its own, eventually stopping at prl3024. but my sister who has a las vegas number, moved back to Sac but wasnt getting 3g and was only at 3018, and at 3019 after calling *228, so i flashed prl3020 onto her phone n get 3g working but her phone doesnt automatically updates itself like my phone does. anyone know why is that? and also, from my experience when i first had prl3020 my 3g speed was tested around 260-330kpbs. now with prl3024 my 3g speed drop down to 120-160kpbs. while my sisters phone still with prl3020 n caped at 260-330kpbs. i dont know, could it jus be my phone?

I wouldn't mind hearing an answer to this too. While there's no 3g yet in Grand Rapids, MI, I feel like my 1x data speed slowed down dramatically since going 3019 > 3024.. I can barely use the Market.. and downloads rarely start.
*EDIT* Even after downgrading to 3020 my 1x is still at an unusable speed. Everything just times out... anyone got 3019? :\
