***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Has there been any real talk as to the Nexus being carried by other carriers?
I know that there is a GSM version of it, but will it be picked up by other carriers?

I can't imagine T-mobile without the Nexus, but has there been any factual talk or high chance roomers of weather it would be, and when it might be ?

Can't wait for Tuesday to see what happens, and what is officially said

If that happens then I may just leave.VZW for another carrier. I do want a true Nexus device.

If VZW does rape this project/phone I think everyone who wanted a Nexus needs to bombard VZW with emails and calls of disappointment.

If enough of us do (meaning all of us) do this maybe the will finally get the message that we are tired of being bent over.

Then vote with your wallet. Until you do, nothing will change. We saw earlier in this thread with posts from tons of people saying they won't leave VZW.

The only problem i see with this is t-mobile blows for coverage. Maybe you might be lucky in your area, but they just suck. I used to work optimization for them.

As for the Verizon bit. The problem is, this forum makes up such a small percentage of their sales. It's like people who buy apple because its so cool. No one is going to leave verizon to make them give an ef because they are comfortable.

I get decent T-Mobile coverage but I may go the Sprint route. I agree people are to comfortable to leave but complacency is a poor and detrimental reason to do or not do anything.

Hmmmm if the button will disapear and the screens get wider. What wiill be the resolution. Meaning it says 1280*720 on what screen the small or the wider?

1280 x 720 would be the resolution of the entire screen including the soft key sections.

Whether or not that will all be available for apps has yet to be seen...but I'm sure that has been addresses because it makes no sense to always leave the soft keys on screen. If that was the case...why not just use capacitive buttons.

Damn...I've been days behind in this thread since Friday. Glad to be caught up for the moment.

WELCOME BACK OTD!!!
(I step down and she reappears...should I read anything into that? :))

I think for a lot of us folks that have been with VZW for awhile the reason it would take a lot for us to leave is: unlimited data (even more important with LTE).

for me it's just a bit hard to believe that a Samsung device would be exclusive on a CDMA network, as they are known for making world phones. I hope they realized something by bringing the Galaxy S2 into the US so late, that this time they would make their new device available worldwide within around the same time. I'm also one of the people who LTE doesn't effect, as I also am in WiFi range almost all the time.

As for me I am a tech whore. I change phones and companies like most change their oil. I go with whatever company gives me the tech I want.

By selling my phones I rarely if ever am out more than the amount of my new toy if anything at all.'

I'm just extremely curious to see if ATT or Tmobile will pick up the GSM version of it. .It's so hard to believe that they have been able to keep things this much under wrap. .Even the info which has been released everybody says to not take it as actual facts just yet. Very nerve wrecking, and fun at the same time.

I consider us fish on a hook for this phone lol

First time posting in this thread.
As a VZW customer I would find it hard to believe that VZW would have a problem releasing a phone without their crap and control. I dont think this phone is actually going to sell BIG or be advertised much through Verizon as is the Droid Razr. The most of us who will lookout for this phone will probably be techies, which isnt a large part of the population. They've already announced the event with Moto. As much as they much hate giving up their Uncle Tom tactics, I think we should be able to see a pure ICS device. If not, we (VZW techie customers) should all start a petition...*shrugs*

I believe that VZW is kinda locked into this as a vanilla ICS device. That's why we're slobbering over it. And true: VZW is going to market RAZR like it's the messiah of phones, and treat Nexus like a red-headed step-child (I can say that: I WAS a red-headed step-child ;) )

But we techies have a lot of influence over a whole bunch of non-techies and what phone they buy. So don't write us off as an insignificant minority. Verizon ought not as well.

Usually the most advertised item in the store isn't necessarily the BEST... it's just the one they want to sell the most of.

Exactly. Unlimited data, LTE and a 24% discount through me wife's employer means I'm not going anywhere. It's cheaper for me to stay with Verizon then it would be to go to Sprint. Another thing is that Verizon already has LTE in my area and Sprint does not have 4G in my area but would still charge me for it. No thanks. T-mobile doesn't have great service in many areas of my state.

I agree... I think this is the main reason the Drazr anouncement is going to be so close to the nexus.

Information would imply that VZW isn't happy with the lack of control/input they have had with the Nexus.. however google is a very strategic partner and sometimes in business you have to do things you don't love.

By announcing the Drazer and giving it a much larger ad campaign they take some of the bad taste out of their mouth.

(as with alot of this thread.. this is just speculation on my part).

I went into the appliance store today. I checked out the iPhone 4s. I was hoping to be wowed. When I played with it, all I saw was a phone that didn't seem any faster in a case that was outdated. Face it. It is an out-of-state bit of tech.

So what is it? The biggest selling Apple phone ever. So everyone leave me alone today. I am in a very bad mood.

People are sheep. Don't anyone talk to me until I got my meds!

Boy, am I ticked off!

I have to tell you guys. I'm glad this is finally coming to revelation. (sigh of relief).

I guess all I need to know is:

1) metal or plastic?
2) Curved or straight?
3) Screen: SuperAmoled+ or what? Pentile or not?
4) Battery size?
5) Screen size?
6) Actual Phone size?
7) ICS features? Why is it better than Gingerbread?
8) Official release date.

More following.

Edit: will we get to 10k before Tuesday?

9) Will updates (Jellybean) have to be approved by Verizon before release?
10) Google Wallet pre installed?
11) No VZW bloat (ISIS, VZW Nav, etc)?
12) Inductive charging support?
13) Docks (car/home)?
14) Inductive Charging docks?
15) Can they fix their Google Voice app to cleanup read mail from notifications like gmail uses? How about some official API's for it? (Yes unrelated, but really google, clean up your other apps)
#3 again. ;)
#7 again. ;)
- expanding on #7, will it have more codec support? MPEG2 (for cable card tuners, since Google TV with Honeycomb will support it)? MKV?

Also, for the love of God get me some Google TV updates please! Will it include sage TV (since they bought them).

Also ask them if they can fix my linux server hard drive that just blew up yesterday losing 100GB+ of flac's I spent 2 months ripping and my other "videos".

I don't understand what you're mad about - people can buy it if they want can't they? I doubt anyone here is going to defend the iPhone 4S, even most Apple evangelists won't defend it too much.

It's a good upgrade for iPhone 3G and 3Gs users, but not really for iPhone 4 users.

But what does this have to do with the Nexus?

Haha! Instead of being upset, be glad that you're not one of them. I know a TON of iSheep, and it's just sad to me.

Steven if Apple released a 2G phone with monochrome touchscreen and called it an iPhone Throwback, millions would STILL buy the stupid thing... simply because Apple expects them to, because their friends expect them to, and because they expect themselves to. iSheep.

We would never sell Nexus to those people, never will. Write 'em off and take a breath.

The handful of Apple converts buying IP4S are doing so because Siri's "cool". Not enough of a crowd to worry about.

With all us OG Droiders and Incredible-ers (?) coming off contract, the Nexus will sell very well... but only if WE - meaning me and YOU - mobilize and play down the RAZR at every opportunity, playing UP the Nexus. I would love to see Nexus outsell RAZR and shock the dookie out of Verizon.

"What?" Asks shocked Verizon execs. "You mean the people don't want locked bootloaders and bloatware???"

The only thing I miss from my iphone is the battery life. However it appears that the ios5 or iphone 4s is having issues with battery life for alot of people.

Yeah, I kinda think battery life will continue to be a problem for the foreseeable future until a new battery technology is invented. Our batteries are just so small now with phones being so thin. There's just only so much juice you can cram into that small of a package. I just keep chargers around and put my phone on the charger a couple of times a day. Battery life on my Incredible is much better now that I installed Gingerbread on it. Plus, I have the extended battery. I think the Nexus will last me all day, personally.
