I've searched and haven't really found an answer. I know the TB is supposed to auto update your PRL because of the SIM card... but mine has been on 15008 since the beginning. I've seen PRL's of 15027 and now 15061 the latest. Is there a reason mine hasn't updated?

Could the PRL 15008 be a cause for some connection issues and it's fixed with 15061?

I'm in NYC, so fellow NYCers... what is your PRL?

Don't know if this will help you since I'm in SC. But i had a vzw rep actually tell me to never update the prl cuz of the sim card.

The rep is possibly an idiot. The PRL is what keeps you up to date. if he was saying that you don't manually update it because of the SIM, then yes, he's right. If he's saying that it doesn't update at ALL because of it, then he's wrong. Otherwise, the TB would never know when towers are updated or added, etc.

But as for how it updates, I have no idea. You can't *228 it because it's a 4G so it SHOULD be an automatic thing, but I don't know (yet) how to trigger it manually. (I'm also on 15061 myself too, dunno when)

Right they said to never manually update it

Yeah..unless there's a secret to it, I don't know of a way TO manually update it anyway. Not sure why yours hasn't updated. Are you stock / rooted? last time you pulled the battery? Maybe even try pulling the SIM out, start the phone, turn it back off, put the SIM back in? (doubt that does anything, but hey, why not..)

Well I'm not the one with the problem, I was just telling the op what i was told

I know :) Was just attempting to clarify for future answer-seekers, to the best of my ability. I dunno if my PRL update came through with the GB update before it was pulled (I got it in the window), or not. Maybe? Perhaps they're just updating the PRL with software patches at this point, and down the road, maybe automatically again...

just thinking out loud....um..on screen.

Thanks for the suggestion... but tried all of that before posting. I'm stock with the GB OTA. I even tried *228 knowing that it wouldn't work - the phone actually has a pop up telling you that you can't use *228!

Doesn't seem to be any way to force the PRL to update. Has anyone had their PRL update automatically? i.e. started on 15008 and are now on 15061?

Huh? I use *228 all the time and a message pops up saying it worked. Idk how I check prl though

What message are you getting that pops up? When dialing *228 from mine (and should be pretty much the same with most of the 4G phones), it gives a message saying "A verizon wireless SIM card has activated your service and updated your phone's roaming capabilities". However, that isn't saying that it updated it right that moment. It's a little misleading, but it's basically a short way of saying that everything is handled through the SIM end, so don't bother dialing *228 since that does nothing on a 4G phone.

Still though, as to why it isn't updated...you almost have me wishing mine HADN'T updated so I could try different things to see. As for the PRL status, go into your settings menu, down to About Phone, and then under Software. It'll be listed in there.
