You are aware the Galaxy Nexus with Ice Cream Sandwich is coming out soon right? Wait to see what that is like before you get the iPhone 4.1

Define "soon". It does look like it'll be on Verizon, but that won't happen until November, and who knows how long this promo will last (or before it gets squashed). That happens, I'll just stick with the Inc until July...

How's about this pile of poo... I sent an email to HTC support, asking what's up with GB, since Verizon has pointed the finger at them, and this is what I get:

Currently the Gingerbread update(2.3) is being pushed out to all our Incredible customers. However this update is being pushed out randomly, so it can take up to 3 months for everyone with an Incredible to receive it. You can try and pull the update by going into Menu-Settings-About Phone-System Updates. If doing this says you are fully up to date, you will have to continue to wait for this update to be pushed to your device.

Oh really? Want to tell me ONE person who has received the update in the last month or so? and System Updates?? HA! that's a laugh...

You can email HTC 10 times a day and get 10 different answers! LOL!

Yeah! I bet! Well I replied, basically saying that Verizon said it's been stopped and they're waiting for HTC to fix the bugs. We'll see what their next reply is.

I still check this thread every now and again. Move on, the Inc isn't going to get updated. Verizon is putting out too many new phones to worry about this one anymore. Especially after 2 failed updates. They want you to spend you money on the next shiny new toy. ;).. IMHO..!!

I have an OG Dinc that got the OTA update over a month ago..
And I HATE it!!! I had never had any problems with my phone from the day I got it in August, 2010. When the update hit, I kept getting "low space"notices anytime I tried to use an app, lost several apps I loved, had trouble making/receiving phone calls... The list goes on. The only positive was a faster reboot, which I lost the second I did a battery pull trying to follow instructions on how to minimize the bugs. I finally had to do a factory reset, which killed some of my apps even though I'd backed everything up. That made the phone usable again, something I'd really worried about, since the update hit a couple of weeks after my warranty expired.:( But my Dinc still isn't the same. Most noticeable, there is a lag of several second when I answer the phone before my callers hear me. The assumption on their end is that the call has been lost, and I've had to call them and make apologies that, yes, I did answer, my phone is acting up, yada yada yada. It also freezes several times a day, on the lock screen, on a page, in an app... The only way to get out is to reboot, losing the call, the, info, you name it.

I loved this phone before the update, and had no plans to replace it in the immediate future. Now I read all the data on new phones to be released. I can discern no positive benefits from this "update". Instead, I feel like I was mugged. So the moral of my story is: Be careful what you wish for.

And answer number 2 from HTC:

" I apologize that you were given incorrect information. It has come to the attention of Verizon Wireless and HTC that customers using the Incredible by HTC have experienced errors with the recent software update. As a result, the update has been temporarily suspended while the companies work together to resolve the issue. Verizon Wireless and HTC anticipate the update being available soon; customers will be notified directly on their devices when it is ready for download."

So .... anyone want to take a stab at the definition of "soon"?

i don't want the update...

but i do want fixes for people that got the update and have issues.

i'm tempted to have my gf (she is one of the people that got the 2.3 update and has problems) try to get an inc2 as a replacement like some other posters have mentioned. then i'll trade my inc1 that is still on 2.2 with her and take the inc2 for myself...

You Don't need a new phone. Once you Root your phone and try a different ROM, it's like having a whole new phone. You'll get new features and more options. Best of all, it's Free.

If love to root my phone... Had planned to finally do it when the update hit. But there isn't a way to root now, according to the forum here. I guess the developers have moved on to newer phones and I've missed my chance.

If anyone knows of a way to root after the update, please let me know. I'd do out on a heartbeat.

Waiting for Godot, er, Gingerbread problem solved.

I put my Inc up for sale here, sold it the next day, got in a short line last Friday at my local Verizon store and transported myself to The Dark Side with an Apple iPhone 4S.

It's a nice phone, but there are many things you can easily do with a 'droid that you cannot do at all on an iPhone, and these have mostly to do with easily turning on and off wi-fi and network, to save battery time, and other widgets and utilities that help you customize your phone.

I turned Siri off. I already have a woman in my life who tells me what to do.

:D

As an already-reported disgruntled receiver of the failed 2.3.4 update, I was looking to change phones. While I was interested in the iPhone 5, based on the then circulating rumors, I am not interested in the 4.1. I was happy with android until this update. So, I wanted to get the group's feedback on the Droid Bionic or the Thuderbolt (although I know that's getting old). Basically, I want 4G, dual core (if possible), and not a fan of Samsung.

Thanks!
