That kind of sucks if it does not have DLNA, I would imagine it would if it has NFC, or maybe NFC is the feature instead of DLNA.

I like the idea of DLNA streaming it to my tv which would replace the need for hdmi out.

CyanogenMod Team: There Will Be No Official SDK Port Of Ice Cream Sandwich By The CM Team - CM9 Will Arrive When The ICS Source Does

Now, I can't tell if Cyanogen is trolling/lying/kidding, but they're saying CM9 will not come until Google releases the source code (they've only released the SDK so far).

Galaxy Tab (7") who've rooted live with the non-removable battery.

I admit to missing the live battery pull now and then, but nothing has happened that would have truly necessitated doing that. I also admit to being a lot more discriminating as to what I'm flashing, etc.

I'm thinking that users of new Android devices with non-removable batteries will be fine with it.

First Impressions: Galaxy Nexus & Android 4.0 [with Videos]

Nice write up/review.

I am beyond excited for this phone!

I know I'm late to the party this morning, but I did watch some of the announcement last night. Is there any word on the bootloader? Also, to be honest, I kind of got the feeling that ICS was plugged up. My anticipation of the Nexus& ICS was more a of a clean OS that had a few tweaks for performance and additions that users were asking for. I realize that folks want customization, but things like the facial recognition just takes time to use and is impractical. Panoramic camera...C'mon man I would bet that will be used less than almost any other feature on the phone. Now a thumb print scanner may have been cool.
Also, the new people format, just way to cluttered. The lighter the OS, I would assume the faster and more stable. I do like a lot of the other features, but to me it came across more of a social media device rather than a powerhouse flagship device. I would have rather had the option to have some of the features incorporated via apps than have them embedded into ICS. JMHO
Lastly, anyone know if it will have any verizon bloatware?

Actually engadget's review on the face unlock says it is surprisingly fast in its implementation to the point it is worthwhile using.

That shouldn't be surprising. CM has always been a source-built complete OS.

No source means no CyanogenMod. They said from the beginning that they'd work on a port once source is released.

Dude, the panoramic setting is something I'm going to love using, living in Chicago with awesome skylines. Also, when you go on vacations (Grand Canyon, etc.) that will really come in handy.

Also, the OS won't weigh down the phone at all. ICS and the Galaxy Nexus were literally made for each other. I think we're all going to be really surprised at how seamless things will be.

No bloatware, unlocked bootloader is 99.9% guaranteed. It's a Nexus!

So what do you think would have been different about including them as "apps" rather than "incorporated"?

Have you ever looked at the /system/app directory of Android? All of these things ARE packaged up as apps. They're just system apps instead of downloadable market apps. The only real difference is what directory they're stored in.

Also, it's flawed logic to assume that fewer features means faster and more stable. Windows 7 has more features and is a larger install than Windows Vista, yet is faster and more stable.

Wow, that one about system apps being disabled will seriously piss off Verizon! Even if they manage to get their bloatware on it, we can just disable it all!

IF .. you can hold out until all 3 are released, then that would be the best way to decide. Just go into a VZW store and play with all 3. I would bet all will have great screens, all will be fast. If you can't wait it out, then continue researching as much as you can about the 3 and consider what the most important things are to you. Is it thinness above all else (RAZR)? Do you just love SENSE or not like amoled screens (Rezound)? Do you want the best , latest OS on what is probably the very best screen available - with the likely hood of the fastest future OS updates? (Nexus).

As I said, you can't go wrong, I bet all 3 will be great ..

I appreciate some negatives because it tells me the reviewer is being critical about what s/he's reviewing. Too often glowing reviews are just raving fanboyism or too shallow to be useful.

Negatives make me believe the reviewer is being honest.

Well, hate to do it but...

Since there were rumors of two different specs for this phone and we now know what the GSM version will have it only lends to speculate that the Verizon version may be different?

I know it is highly unlikely but until Verizon officially announces it....

I actually found that coverage to be a little odd. So much about it just shouted, "I hate change." It all seemed to be saying, "this is a great feature! I just don't like it because I liked the old Android." I don't mind criticism, I just don't think that "it's different" is a useful criticism.

Also, complaining about software buttons with the argument that, um, button choice is personal? What? It's not like there's some enormous flexibility in hardware buttons or a huge choice in the market of what buttons you want. There are apps that will override the hardware button functions if that's what he means but how is it logical that the same apps can't override the software buttons? I just don't understand. From the article:

How is there a huge number of options, choices, flexibility or personal preference in fixed buttons? A couple manufacturers change the order of buttons on the phones. Otherwise, you're pretty much stuck and who would choose button order over ANY OTHER FEATURE on a phone? Did you really pick a HTC phone over a Motorola phone because the menu and home buttons were in a different order? At least with the software there could be the option of re-ordering them.

Not everyone wants software buttons. Not everyone wants them in the same place. Not everyone wants them to work the same.

I get it, I guess that its just different strokes. I'm probably just looking for light and lean because my OG is starting to show its age. It's going to come down to a side by side between the Razr and Nexus when I can go hands on.

On a side note, been to Chicago a few times for work. Had a blast in that town, and wifey and I actually made a 10 hr drive just stay the weekend and play a little golf up there last year.(Eaglewood, if I remember the name right ) It truly is a very cool city to visit, as long as you can stomach all the bears fans

So, the beam thing. Does the other phone need the beam app, and can it be installed without ICS? My husband will probably be getting one of the current gen phones and it might have NFC, it'd be cool to be able to use that even though he might not get ICS for a while.

By the way, if there is anyone STILL doubting whether this phone comes to VZW, you can clearly see in the spec sheet on this video that it says ( 4G LTE: USA)... last time i checked there is only one LTE network in the US.

Wasn't the one showed last night the Verizon version - which is why we saw the 'Verizon Wireless' in the notification bar. I thought all along, the Verizon was this version (TI proc, 5MP Camera...) while the HSPA+ version was speculated as the Exynos phone.
