Root WORKING WIFI Tether

Hmmm, I was just pairing the phone and iPad... I didn't initiate a "tether" with the iPad. I assumed just being paired would do the trick. I'll play around with this a bit more today.

EDIT: I give up, I can't figure it out. Do I need to use a tethering app on the phone? I can't find any setting on the iPad (which is jailbroken) which will tether via bluetooth. The iPad does show it's paired, and on the left of the status bar there is a little chain icon, so it all looks like it should work. :(

thanks for disregarding my post. IPAD DOESN'T SUPPORT ADHOC AKA THIS WON'T WORK

Sorry Ceejay, I didn't mean any disrespect. :( I just noticed it was "Tickerguy" who also replied, and isn't he the guy, or one of the guys responsible for the CM7 on this phone? I assumed that he would have the right answer. :)

Oh well, at least Wifi tethering works really well (other than the sleeping issue), and it's fast!

I hate to say this, but I tether my unjailbroken iOS 4 and 5 iPads (1st and 2nd gen.). It does support Ad-hoc, and Bluetooth tethering. I would say you need to tell your iPad to "Forget the device" and try it again. It should work, otherwise you have a issue.

Apple even states PAN is supported on all devices that have bluetooth except the original iPhone: iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles

The key in all of this is to be running iOS 4.3 or higher. If you are on something pre-iOS 4.3, you won't ever be able to get it to work.

Wow, thanks, trying again after "Forget the device" fixed the problem. Now I have bluetooth tethering (I use iOS 4.3.3).

I'm not sure of the speed difference between Wifi vs bluetooth, but I was pleasantly surprised with the speed of loading web pages with bluetooth.

One problem with the bluetooth... every few minutes it would disconnect and i'd have to keep re-connecting in the iPad. But wow, the battery life is way better with bluetooth. About 3.5x better! :)

Update to iOS 5. I get drops every now and then, but no where near the dropage in 4.3.3

I can't figure out how to tether with Bluetooth to my iPad. The phone and iPad do get paired. But on the phone, it says my iPad is "paired but not connected". I can't find any info on setting up bluetooth tethering on this forum. Can anyone help?

Well since your new to rooting i recomend you how to add "clockworkmod" then start flashing roms which would be like MIUI and CM7 or custom themes and such i recomend for you to learn that first, as for wifi tether i dont think there is an app just for rooted phone, not for the triumph atleast, but if you get cm7 you can get native "hotspot" on the triumph wish you best of luck!
