Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 | Last Version: CM7-Triumph-09182011 (discontinued)

The ROM works great it has made this phone the true beauty that it should have been all along. isaac I know you're in college learning and all but if you ever are interested in a development/programming job my boss heard about you and would love to see your stuff. The offer of course also goes out to Tickerguy careers@nettalk.com if you're ever interested.

OMG....this gave me a bit of a chuckle. Isaac is in college, but you apparently don't know who Tickerguy is and his background...so your offer to Tickerguy tickled my funny-bone.

The world is full of unique characters so im not informed lol. However going back to the current build it says the GPS doesnt work? What aspect of it isnt working out of curiosity as so far ive tested google maps + foursquare and its been locking on with intense accuracy. Before on 2.2 the GPS function wouldn't even work/lock on (only very rarely outdoors in wide open areas).

I will discontinue builds and make a flashable OC kernel package for CM7. This is probably the best solution as it's redundant to 2 builds of the same ROM. Like I said, we're building from the same sauce.

Once everything is working hardware-wise, a simple repo sync will keep CM7 up-to-date with all the changes from upstream. My builds are no longer necessary.

I will continue to assist tickerguy in any way I can. I'm still adding this to the ROM itself. I'm still working on a upgraded GB launcher which should be very sweet. I'm glad I was able to play a role in getting CM7 on the Triumph. More importantly, I'm glad CM7-Triumph come so far in so little time. It really is amazing. :)

The OC package will be available in the first post later. I will bump this thread up when it is available.

Thanks Isaac. You were/are awesome with the Triumph, I remember the IRC chats :)

CM7-Triumph would not have come nearly as far as it is now without you.

Download ROM and GAPPS packages and place them in the main folder of your SDcard
Install my custom recovery
Power off phone and boot into recovery mode
Choose "Wipe data/factory reset"
Navigate to "mounts and storage"
Choose "format /system"
Go back to main menu and choose "install zip from sdcard" then, "choose zip from sdcard"
Navigate to the ROM package and install it.
Again, go back to main menu and choose "install zip from sdcard" then, "choose zip from sdcard"
Flash the GAPPS package.
Once it finishes, go back to the main menu and reboot.

ok, im kinda paranoid about doing this in the first place since this CM7 is a beta/alpha version rather than stable. I had a samsung galaxy prevail awhile back and tried to flash it to shaggymod awhile back but when i installed CWM/rom manager it somehow bricked the phone and i wasnt able to use it after that. so now i have a triumph and would like to give this a go but im having numerous issues and am confused about how to proceed. have been working on this for about 2 hours, running into issues no matter what i do.

i copied the ROM and GAPPS packages into sd card root (the entire zip files, not just the contents contained therein).

Im stuck at the part about how to install the custom recovery. i have the free version of rom manager/CWM and a premium license installed (pirated). but somehow ROM Manager recognizes that its not the premium version. can this be done with the free version or do i need to pay for the app (if pay, then its a no-go).

so i skipped the step above and rebooted into recovery mode and then formatted the sd/system.

the option for navigating to mounts and storage is not available in recovery mode, unless im doing something incorrectly.

and when i try to install the zip (i simply renamed the ROM to update.zip) the phone fails to recognize it, it seems to have failed a hash check of some kind and tells me to reboot.

also, if/when i manage to get all this installed and have CM7 beta/alpha working on here, will i need to totally wipe and flash when a newer beta/alpha/stable comes out, or can i just update it to latest version incrementally without wiping?

need some guidance here, more specifically step-by-step instructions, as well as some advice on what to do and what to avoid.

Thanks!!!

Avoid this thread because this version is no longer under development.

Check out Tickerguy's CM7 thread- he is actively developing CM7 and has step-by-step instructions for flasing in one of the first few posts of his thread.
