I have a question. How necessary does everyone here think the extra 32 GB will be? It's not like I'm going to be saving libraries of movies on it or thousands of songs. Other than those hard-drive heavy items what else would I need the extra 16 GB for?

Thanks guys. For those who have purchased it, how do you like it in comparison to: (1) Galaxy Tab 10.1; (2) Ipad2; and (3) Asus Transformer?

I've only had the tablet since Friday night and wasn't too impressed with it at first. Especially since you still can't download PSOne or PSP games yet. The Media Go software also doesn't yet recognize that the device can play videos or games but will sync music and playlists.

However, I am really liking the dock. It's the first dock I've had for a tablet that removes and inserts easily with one hand. Most of the others require holding down the dock with one hand while pulling up. This one just lifts out effortlessly. I haven't played with the Chumby feature much yet.

Seems to get a good wireless signal and I like the physical design for holding in portrait mode. I'm a power PC user with an Android phone so I'm partial to Android tablets so I'm not really into the iPad. It's not quite as fast as the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I wish it had the text reflow that only HTC seems to have. Wish it also had the ability to take notes like the Flyer, or Lenovo Thinkpad tablet.

On the plus side it's extremely comfortable to hold with that wider end in portrait mode. Even laying down flat it does help with the viewing angle. I'll connect to my slingbox to playback tv over it lying down flat and it's not bad.

The tv remote functionality is cool, but it'd be better if it was quicker to access but it seems like they expect you to have that app running on top while watching something rather than browsing the web while watching something. It's easier to pick up the actual remote.

I think the real value in this tablet is IF Sony gets the game library opened up to the tablet. The included games seem to play pretty well but they're not really the type I play.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm not big into the idea of playing a ton of games on the pad. I used to be a gamer but not much time for it anymore. I more wanted to use it for things I use my cell phone for (mainly surfing the net when I'm not on my computer), times where it would be nice to have my laptop but don't (pull out the pad to edit a document I received via email or something like that) and possibly begin using it as an eReader (though I don't currently do that).

I guess I'll hold off until there's more people using it or the prices come down.

Thanks Guys.

BTW, the sd card is for file transfer ONLY. It will not work as extended memory or anything else and is pretty much useless. Going out to buy a xoom soon.

This is not really true. Your right the system video player and stock apps wont see the sd card as extended storage. But, there are apps on the market that will. I have used mx player, and mobo player (both free) that see the sd stored items fine. Have watched several movies off of sd card with ZERO problems. Sure its not as convenient as having it built in, but I got a 32gb card for $35. Way cheaper than the $100 extra from 16gb to 32gb, and I have more space

Well, the Sony 32g s is going back, nothing but problems with wifi. We also tried to tether it to a phone, but it would not even "see" our phones. Went out and bought an asus transformer with dock on friday, and it is great. We can connect to wifi in seconds, and she loves the way it works. Had to update it to 3.2 to cure a couple of minor glitches, but running smooth now. I'd recommend the asus any day. I have used their mobo's for years and am now just sold on their products.
P.S. BTW, did go to buy a xoom, but had problems connecting in the store, and then found out that they only had 3 in stock and they were all returns, said a lot about them right there.

I tried using mobo player and it could not see the card. When I checked the filemanager its called sd2 and has a bunch of other partitions i didnt create intentionally. Do you see the same thing when you look at your SD card?

Been trying the bluetooth version of tether because I dont have a MICRO male to MiCRO male USB. Having similar issues, but my Sony sees my phone, phone just wont connect.
Tried 3 different apps, no use for now. My phone has mobile hotspot anyway so am using that until bugs fixed.
I know there are some issues with this device, but Sony has been in the personal electronics biz for a few years, so give it a chance.

We did try the bluetooth hack as welll as a few other things, but it has gone back and we have an ASUS transformer 32 that has been working just great. Sony has become a bit uppity ,starting with their rootkits a few years ago, now they think they will tell me what I like, not happening.
