I don't know about the others, but Nexus S 4G was announced by Sprint.

Google Nexus S 4G with WiMAX announced for Sprint: coming this spring for $200 -- Engadget

WELL after T-Mo who had been the Nexus One and Nexus S developmental carriers got the phone. Day ONE announcement in both cases included info on availability on T-Mo. Not sure how closely T-Mo was included in the Nexus unveiling's, BUT they were 100% verified by ALL PARTIES involved as first carrier on DAY ONE. Think on sale dates were even announced right away.

Something has went south behind the scenes with their carrier partner MOST DEFINITELY.

Announcement 12/6/2010 and availability 12/16/2010 on T-Mo.

This? Latest News | T-Mobile | Nexus S Coming Soon to T-Mobile Customers

Just FYI: the release date for this was 12-16-2010. 10 days after this appeared on T-Mo's website

And 10 days after EVERY other aspect of the announcement. It was a COMPLETE announcement on DAY ONE.

Google isn't stupid and would have LIKED to include info on VZW carrying the device for the USA. They were blacked out from saying that for SOME reason though. And I doubt it's because VZW HAD to say it first officially. Only reason to black out such info is because that aspect of the announcement isn't 100% yet.

like others, i think the marketing push for the GNex will come from Google/Sammy, and not VZW. i'm guessing this was probably a negotiated term in the agreement with VZW for the GNex.

as for the RAZR, we will probably see an initial push for it just a week or so before release. but, since this is Moto's BIG device for the year, i'm betting the real marketing push won't start until the holiday shopping season.

If I remember correctly, the Incredible was done like this, most of the commercials I saw were from HTC as opposed to Verizon. In my opinion that is a good sign, it seems Verizon always under-advertises their best phones... So the less ads from Verizon on the GNex, the better!

Another article on the Pentile display on the SGN:

Galaxy Nexus to feature PenTile panel. Should you care? | Android and Me

I was hoping that if it was Pentile, it'd be the RGBW instead of the RGBG, for greater readability in direct sunlight.

Sammy was ALWAYS gonna use AMOLED as that is their real differentiation tech. The RGBW LCD is theirs also, but it's still LCD like all the other manufacturers use. My guess is that Moto will goto RGBW again and be the first to have one with a high enough PPI on a big screen for it to look reasonable. It seems though that from a perceived resolution/fidelity perspective the new RGBG don't need to by quite has high a PPI as the RBGW. I say that because it has come out that the RAZR is RGBG Pentile at the same resolution as the Bionic, but looks WAY nice from a resolution and fidelity perspective.

I don't find this surprising though because a bright bright white pin point lights in nonwhite, but lighter colored areas of the screen is going to distract more than ONLY a missing color every other pixel. For some it will anyway. I found the bionic screen VERY distracting and it ONLY got worse as you increased relative brightness to your environment. Obviously won't notice it in the sun much, but in a darker room with brightness more than pretty dim the screen door effect would become pretty pronounced. I slowly tricked myself into not noticing it, but it was serious enough I would still find myself noticing it even after I had it a week. It was just too distracting to me.

At ~315+ppi like Nexus though I could see it starting to be less of an issue. My guess is though it wouldn't look quite as nice as this Nexus in most reasonable lighting.

Aren't the Super AMOLED screens already good in the sunlight though?

They are nothing like an RGBW LCD. Those are just extreme bright. Still say an LCD that had a mroe reflective mode like Pixel Qi's is the best solution for this though. Not sure why no one licenses there tech for cell phones? That's where it's needed most. They are marketing to e-reader oriented tablets mostly though. And retrofitting netbooks.

Right, SAMOLED looks pretty good outdoors though not as bright as RGBW pentile LCD like on D3, Bionic.

It looks like Razr is also using pentile SAMOLED but at qHD. I wondered what they meant by "advanced" qHD before and thought it could be non-pentile. But it turns out that just means RGBG pentile instead of RGBW pentile. So it's advanced from previous Moto's pentile screen, but nothing special on Samsung screens. The only difference between Nexus and Razr screen is then resolution, HD vs. qHD.

Thanks for the details. I think the most important thing I get out of this is, compared to my Thunderbolt, my outdoor visibility will be much better. That's good enough for me (Thunderbolt is awful outdoors).

I'm on vacation for a couple weeks and have lots going on so don't have much time for this thread and its back and forth but I received some info from one of my family members who works the call center here and I thought I would share it with those that believe its coming to VZ.

I received a text telling me she is in training today for Android 4.0 and stated it was for a device that was scheduled to be released on Nov. 10th. She knew two devices had that date as a release on her screen but only one has 4.0

Now I believe this is not the first post in this thread stating that training is taking place for this device...sounds like the last one was on the retail side, but my source is on the tech support side of the phone, I also saw members of the dark side trying to play it down as a stupid girl not knowing what device she was talking about. Well I can tell you that my VZ family member knows her Nexus and follows the sites like myself so....if you want to believe and this adds some more fuel to the fire that is soon to be the Nexus release on VZ then I am glad to help.

Now back to painting the Man Cave! :D

I know Pentile displays have been discussed here numerous times especially surrounding some Bionic users. We also discussed it here shortly before the Nexus event as well.
Now after reading 3 reviews this morning stating they are disapointed in the Nexus display I have to ask a question of you folks who are much more "technically advanced" than myself! If the technology is there to do a "Super Amoled Plus" screen in a 4.5 inch screen such as the the SG2 why can't it be done in the 4.63 inch size? I read this morning the technology does not allow them to do the plus screen in the 4.63 size which forced them to use the pentile.Should Samsung and Google have stuck with 4.5?

Here is a good comparison of the pentile display. This link allows you to zoom in by hovering your cursor and compare to S2 and Retina. Its using the screen from the Note but they are the same. I think it looks pretty good.

Screen

Here is the full article:
Nexus

Does it make a difference that it looks like they didn't zoom quite as close on the screen of the iP4 as they did the others? Or is that just a result of the screen size and resolution?

I think it has to do with the resolution. GNex is 720p, Where SGS2 is not. I don't think the screen size is the problem.
