How is everyone upgrading planning on upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus without the two year contract agreement? I'm on a droid X from last July, and I can't upgrade till March 2012 (20 months). Are you guys paying full price, have one year contracts, or is there a way to get a 2 year contract discount for another phone now? I just really want a stock android phone that is backed by Google.

I might just go ahead and complain that my DX has horrible reception and is breaking down to see if I can get an upgrade (it's in mint condition, works splendidly)

My normal upgrade cycle is yearly. One year get a 2 year contract, the next pay retail. This is my retail year :(

I have a family plan w/ 3 lines & all of them come up for upgrades @ different times and i can usually take 2/3 of the upgrades so ~once per year i can upgrade(or a little earlier or later, like now im upgrading from a tbolt after like 9 months)

I originally upgraded to an Incredible last July. As of a couple months ago Verizon has been offering me discounted pricing. They probably see how often I trade phones and are trying to entice me to upgrade.

Well, when the Nexus finally launches they have achieved their goal. Ha!

I did it about the same time. I think they are trying to get rid of the last of us on NE2 by offering the discounted pricing because I've been seeing that offer on my account for about 2 months.

I have 7 verizon lines on a commercial account split between 2 business 3 of those lines are mine . I bought both my Incredible and Thunderbolt on 1yr contracts so I'm eligible on each line after 10months plus they usually let me upgrade even earlier then that if I want . I also have 2 sprint lines as part of my Cbeyond T1 account and those get upgrades yearly. So if it's new on Sprint or Verizon I can usually get it at release and sell the previous phone for the same cost as the new phone or sometimes more . It's a nice little set up

Ok so I voted Droid 1, but technically I have a Charge right now - but I only got it as a hold over until something came out this fall that was worth it. I just couldn't keep my D1 going much longer and didn't have time/energy to root/try fixes to keep it going while working 100 hours a week :(

which leads me to a question -- I never really moved all my settings and such from the D1 to my Charge. So the best way to get those on my Gnex would probably be to sync with the D1 directly? And let the newer apps I have update through google account right?

I would think that it would be a bad idea to port settings from one OS to another in this case, because of how different the OSs are. Heck I had trouble going from CM7 to vanilla ROMS with backed up settings back when my OG was working, so I can only imagine what it would be like with ICS. Apps will restore automatically, as well as any information and settings stored in your Google account. Everything else you should start from scratch with. A pain I know, but here's to hoping it will be the last time you have to do that for a long long time!

This makes sense and is probably the case. I can't get my additional loyalty discount until March. I'm not gonna last that long since the Nexus is coming. Now...if delays come (I hope they don't) maybe I'll get to use it after all.

I was at the VZ store the morning the original droid debuted. I'd been waiting for that phone for a _long_ time. Still love it with CM7, but am ready for 4G and more memory.

I'll miss the dedicated phone button, but the SGN camera seems to be vastly superior, so I'm sure I'll get over it.

I'm not sure I can live without a real keyboard, though. I've got a few weeks to think about it...

That is what I thought when I got my Eris... ERIS of all phones for me to get used to an on screen keyboard and with so many market keyboard replacements, however not the same as a physical keyboard, will definitely help in your transition.

Shouldn't be any delays. You should pop into the huge nexus thread and read tonight's posts from about 6pm on. Was entertaining and informative to say the least. The official announcement was made that it's coming this year.

well i am coming from sprint. I am sick and tired of there poor customer service so i am going on my husband plan and this is the phone i will get i hope it come before the end of the year because i want to be gone from sprint by 2012. I will be coming from a htc evo 3d

If you are looking for good customer service I hope you aren't going to Verizon. They have the worst customer service I have ever had from any cell phone company.

I'm also thinking of upgrading from the 4S. I went from the Droid X to the iPhone 4S, and I'm getting impatient waiting for a jailbreak.

I have 10 days left to decide if I want to return it or not, thinking I may to check out the Galaxy Nexus, HTC Rezound (Vigor), and Droid RAZR. If I do return it, I'm leaning towards the Galaxy Nexus for now...

Upgrading from an iPhone 4S. ;)

Upgrading from an iPhone 4! Had to switch to the dark side when the ThunderBolt sucked big time.

I like how going from an iPhone 4/4s is considered an upgrade :p
