Root Liberty Rom has Landed!

Well here are my 2 cents on this ROM.

The AOSP feel is nice to have back. Love having the power control options in the notification menu again! The 4G seems to like to cut out quite a bit but usually after killing data and starting it back up it comes back again. Cant really say anything about battery life yet, as I just flashed this like a half an hour ago. But I'm not noticing any ridiculous drain as of yet. But it is debloated, very debloated. And I love it!

So far I like it and plan on continuing to use it. Feels a lot nicer and smoother than Th3ory to me.

The pics I saw over at DF look great. However, there have been plenty of bugs reported, I just may wait until they are out of RC stage. I just flashed Theory 2.0 last night and it's really smooth, a big step up from 1.7 that I was on.

Also, just to note that Kejar had made sure to remove all links from XDA and direct everyone to RootzWiki. I assume since that's where your link goes to it should all be kosher.

In reading the instructions, I see that:

http://rootzwiki.com/topic/7689-rom-liberty-3-rc1-time-for-the-eagle-to-once-again-take-flight/ said:
The only apps left from Blur are the Dialer, Contacts and Camera

So, those with Camera issues are not going to be completely satisfied with this ROM to begin with. Just throwing out a warning before this thread gets filled with "My camera still doesn't work right!" comments.

Also, From what I am reading, you basically wipe, install CM7, wipe again and then install Liberty?

Is this correct?

Where are you reading that it says install CM7?

Haven't encountered any bugs so far , had no issues getting it up and running yesterday, wiped data/cache/dalvik cache .. my only gripe is the widget that toggles airplane mode on/off is gone(guess it was part of blur), and I don't really like the 1% increment battery but thats just personal preference other than that the rom smokes, typically got 500-550mb ram free and since I can't find any flashable themes for stock gingerbread/AOSP status bar and icons for the stock rom if youre looking for AOSP its pretty good imo

Not here to steal any thunder from Liberty, as I flashed it and loved it on my X. But Theory 2.0 (and as early as 1.7 IIRC) has the toggles in the notification bar.

Back on topic though, I'm really tempted to flash, but to be honest DT's super-disgustingly-fast release schedule has had me flash my phone about 5 times in 2 weeks. I think I'll ride this one out for a little bit :D

Has there been any change to the radio? For some reason on Liberty RC1 my phone signal seems a lot better. I mean when I look at the battery status my phone was @ 90% after 6 hours. Usually it's less than that due to the crappy signal I get here at my work. When I look at the signal status the bar is all solid instead of little blocks of different colors I normally get. Or am I just fooling myself? I haven't used my phone at all today due to being busy at work but this is something I really noticed different.

Yeah I probably should have been more specific on that. I had them when I was running 1.8 but I liked Liberty's better. Don't ask why... just do. :) haha But I haven't tried 2.0 yet. I think I'll go ahead and download it and flash it quick to check it out.

I'd hold out for 2.1, since it will likely be out today.

I hate him for being so efficient with this updates :D

Looks like it's out of RC build and it's a full release now. Liberty3 ROM 1.0 is official.

I wonder if I need to flash back to the old kernel before loading this one up. I'm on the 893 radio and kernel so not sure if that'll mess with the Liberty ROM since I think it's the kernel is still based on the 886 build. Or is it?

No, you don't. You will still be updated to .893 and will get all the radio benefits of . 893, but since the ROM is based on
886 you will get none of the kernel benefits.

At this time there is no going back from the .893 radio/kernel... You cannot FXR back as the radio/kernel cannot be downgraded. That said, Liberty runs fine on the .893 radio/kernel. Just remember to wipe data/cache/dalvik! :D

I've been using Th3oryRom since it was available on my Bionic. Though I liked it I decided to try Liberty3 1.0. I like the warm fuzzy CM7 look and feel I missed from my DROID and the thorough de-bloating, but it seemed slightly more battery hungry than Th3oryRom. But what killed it for me was the sudden loss of 3G and wifi that I never experienced in Th3oryRom. I hope they can fix that!
