how much longer will you keep your Fascinate?

My fascinate suffered from the missed call bug since the update. Taking advantage of the phone exchange program verizon currently has. I was offered DINC2, X2 or Charge. My DC4GLTE should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. Off to the Charge forum for me. :)
I also hate the name Charge. eww...

Phone exchange program??? I may have to google this...

Overall, I'm still loving rockin' the Fascinate. It's been the best phone I've ever had, honestly. The GPS was working great again today, several times actually. I'm getting better battery life daily than I feel I deserve. I just use the thing a lot. I have especially been using the daylights out of the camera lately, and getting some great shots of parades, family stuff, water falls, and more. Not to mention I customize the crap out of it with new ROMs from time to time.

The only gripe I have with it is the power/screen button. I don't get it. It ALWAYS works EVERY TIME to turn the screen ON. But at least two or three times a day there's NOTHING I can do to turn the screen off. It's like the power button just decides it won't work. I don't understand it. Sometimes it will time out. Sometimes the screen will just sit there on for hours, which makes me appreciate the strong battery.

Regardless of what or when the screen shuts off, the button always works without fail to turn it on. This is a bug or something that I simply do not understand. It does it regardless of stock/rooted status, or whatever custom ROM I'm using. And it's very inconsistent. Sometimes I'll go several days without it happening at all. Then it will happen 2-3 times a day for a week.

Perplexing. But everything else works so well on it - calls, games, texting, photos/videos, etc. It really has been a good phone for me. My wife enjoys her Fascinate a lot too, especially the camera. She probably would've been happy with an iPhone 4, too, but her Fascinate was only $50. She's an accountant, so she wanted the $150 savings much more than the iPhone. :D

They currently have a program for people (like me) who randomly miss calls and text messages. The calls won't even appear as missed in my call log. This started happening after the last update. There is a thread here and at XDA forums on this. I had a choice of DINC2, X2 or Charge. It does not extend my contract either. :)

I got the iPhone 4s 1 week ago and love it. Simply put, it is better this is coming from a 2.5 year android user and first time iPhone user. The fascinate is just not that good IME. Fascinate goes on eBay as soon as I get back in town, glad to be an iPhone user. My issue is more one with the fascinate rather than android although androids lack of spell check is ridiculous. I don't miss the goog nav nearly as much as I should because the fascinate could hardly find location when I needed it rendering it useless at times.

The Fascinate is a great phone and I never have any issue with it. Of course, it can last a few more years if I want to. This is the same thing as car. After you pay off your car, if it is properly maintained, it will last a few more years...easily over 150,000 miles. But the problem is not because the car is failing you but people tend to like new thing. That's why we buy new car and we buy new clothes, and not to wear the same clothes for the last 5 years.

As much as I love my Fascinate, I am considering to upgrade to Galaxy Nexus. :)

Exactly, and with official support from CyanogenMod, the Fascinate will be good to go for a while longer.

I agree with you, if I were to upgrade, it would be for a Nexus device. The thought of getting updates direct from Google is infinitely more appealing than languishing further under Verizon's policy of apathy and negligence when it comes to maintaining devices that aren't brand spanking new.

My Fascinate and I don't along too well anymore lol. Service and battery life just sucks, I have to carry around an extra battery, and a charger. This is my second one and i haven't had it but a few months! I do love the style or it, but it's so out of date.. no ICS!? Eligable for a discount Jan! Iphone.. Droid Razor? I want something with a front facing camera!

It is understandable that the phone is out of date- it's over a year old! The 2nd generation, the Galaxy S II, does have all that except for ICS however, I've heard rumors that it will receive the update.

I just got mine used yesterday, but I do find the battery life not as good as my Eris. The battery isn't the original, I can tell. It's very generic looking and doesn't say Samsung anywhere on it, just i9000 at the bottom with a serial number above it.
1500mah
This is a tide-me-over phone. I picked it up for $70. I was thinking about a Revolution but the speed won't be any different really. I'd just be upgrading for the front facing camera, and LTE.
