Root Is my phone rooted or not??!!

Hi,

Im a bit confused, i was going to root my phone but after reading the faq it says that once you root the phone u will see the app, Superuser in the app drawer. Which i noticed i already have, which makes me question whether my phone is already rooted since i did buy the phone off ebay.
However if it is how come i am not able to move more of my apps onto my memory card as i am very low on space currently.

It depends on the rom that is running and if it supports the moving of apps to SD. What rom are you running?

Try installing & running an app that needs root, such as Titanium Backup. Or start a terminal emulator & type su (which gives superuser rights). Either should make the superuser app run to ask whether to give the rights - if it works you have root.

Im on the stock HTC sense ROM, and android 2.2
I ran the terminal emulator and it did ask the superuser for rights.. so i have root.. but i cant move my apps over

You dont require root to move apps to sd in the official method. Gingerbread moves more of the app than froyo. But with both methods quite a bit of the app is still left over in the limited internal memory. Finally if you keep installing apps you will run out of space.

But you do require root if you plan to use a seperate sdcard partition for apps(a2sd+) which moves even more to sdcard(but still not fully). For this you will need to create a ext partition and choose a ROM which supports a2sd+ like oxygen.

I would guess if you have super user and some apps request root then you are rooted.

hi guys having a similar problem i spent ages downgrading my DHD from firmware 2.50 to 1.3 so i could root the phone and add a custom rom i installed then i flashed the clockworkmod recovery and placed the rcmix3d _blissv1.2 rom on the goldcard i created but when i try and boot into clockworkmod recovery the screen goes black and i get a picture of the phone with a red triangle the only way to get the phone working again was to remove the battery and try again ....but no joy still the same now im on android 2.2 and have just done an ota update to 1.32.405.6 is this dangerous doing ota updates after attempting to root also i tried the terminal "su" it said permission denied so im getting pretty confused with it now this is the first root and flash i have attempted and dont wont to brick my phone any help guys would be great thanx in advance
