New to Bionic with questions

I just received my Bionic from Verizon as a replacement for my HTC Thunderbolt which had many issues. The Bionic appears to be new and I bought the extended battery with the hope that I can make it through the day without having to charge the devise. I am not a "techy" person and I am wondering if I need to download anything to the Bionic to achieve maximum performance. I read something about a .893 update and I am not sure if this replacement phone has this or needs it. I am also wondering if there is anything else I should consider doing to the phone or should I just use it as is. Any input would be great!

You should be fine with the extended battery making it all day depending on how heavy you use it. .8934 is an over the air update coming out in the next few weeks. It has not been officially released yet but you can download it or just wait till it comes to you.

Thanks you guys! How do you download the .893? If I do decide to download it, will the over the air update still happen to my individual phone?
Thanks again.

patience is a virtue and I recommend you WAIT for the official release. it's not like the Bionic is inoperative as it stands now. Hang in there just a little longer.

.893 is a test. There are no guaranees about how it relates to the production software. There are opinions. If you need a guarantee then wait for the OTA relase.

You can install .893 usig the instructions at http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/434407-how-flash-893-update-maintain-root.html in the Root area. That post also has a link to where you can download .893.
