So, i was using my Droid 3 after having it plugged in for a while (overnight) and i was playing angry birds with it plugged in still, when my phone suddenly died?

Upon trying to turn it on with the battery only, it wouldnt turn on, so i plugged it in and the battery charging screen comes up with the battery at 0% i let it sit for a moment to charge up to 10% and turn it on. Everything shows the battery at 10-20%.
I know the battery was fully charged through this all, but it seems like it suddenly discharged fully...

Has anyone else expirenced this very strange and bizzare phenomenon?

PS the battery manager's graph show the battery level suddenly droping, the rising up again (little by litte, as im charging the phone, again)

this has happened to me three times since i got my droid 3 back in early september. i charge my phone before i go to sleep, so its not over charging all night. once its at 100% i put it on the nightstand right next to my head so i can hear the alarm in the morning. 29 out of 30 times it will still have 100% or 90% battery in the morning, but sometimes it just drains its battery to zero and the alarm never goes off. i was late the class the first time it happened because i didn't wake up :(

That's weird. Cell phone batteries have always been a mystery for me. The only thing that I can think that happened was that the phone was never actually charging even though it showed it was. If it holds a charge fine, maybe it was just some weird fluke.

@Maccabird - If it hasn't happened since the update, it was likely due to the weird Cell Standby/Phone idle battery drain problem. I was losing 10% an hour with the phone in my pocket pre-update.

There have been a couple of times that my battery started to drain quickly and I don't know why. Most likely it was some run away task but I was never able to identify which one. After a re-boot, the problem did not re-occur.

So how did I know it was happening? I use Battery Spy from the market, and some of it's features include an audible and visual warning when the battery temp exceeds a threshold I set, or the battery charge level drops below a certain level I set.

I might be awakened in the middle of the night because my D3 is getting too hot or running out of juice, but I won't oversleep because it died completely.
