Heya,
what's the latest swype version for sgs2?
I have 2.3.5 which includes version 2.72 but when i tried to install 3.26 it failed and told me that phones with preinstalled swype aren't supported.
So anyway, it is supposedly possible to install ver 3+ of swype using its apk but that would require rooting to delete the preinstalled swype.
What is the latest version that i could upgrade to using (stock rom/no root)?

the latest version that comes with the latest firmware is the latest swype version ur gonna get, and seeing that ur running 2.3.5, sounds like ur running a new firmware so u probably wont get a newer version of swype.

and yes, root+uninstall swype via titanium, and u can just sign up for swype beta on the swype site and u'll get the newest version, 3.26.. its wat im using, its much better than the preinstalled version.. lot of little improvemets

hmm, may i ask the benefit of removing root each time? and to remove root, just flash the firmware again, u lose root automatically. although i dont see the benefit of this, to be honest :D

I was under the impression that the unsecured kernel we use to gain root isn't as stable nor as good performing as the stock one.

And using this method didn't work for me, i don't know why.
Maybe because i used to flash the kernel back not the whole FW.

I do use CF-root, specifically 4.4
and it DOES use unsecured kernel ;)

well wat i meant by CF root not needing an insecure kernel is that u dont have to first flash an insecure kernel, then root, then flash stock kernel again. u just flash the one thing. and im not really sure wat 'insecure kernel' means to be honest, but i havent had any problems with it, even compared to the older CF root version, which apparently has 'secure' mode.

i guess those are the two files to delete, but if ur rooted, titanium backup should definitely be on ur phone.. just use it to uninstall swype
