Help New Jersey 3g???????

I know ppl been talking about 3g in Florida n Orlando n Atlanta but how come New Jersey doesn't have any?? I just want to know that if I update my prl will da 3g signal most likely be there or there's no chance at all?????????
It just depends on if ya area has coverage or not, changing the prl wont cause any harm though so I say go for it and see what happens

Well as a NJ resident I can tell you that as of now we don't have 3G. I've changed my prl to the latest and have tried each of the newer ones but have yet to have working 3G. It teases you with the 3G logo but that's about it,lol.

Hopefully it's on it's way as we live between two huge Metro markets(NY and Philly).

NJ doesn't have 3G? Lol what are you guys smoking? It does where I am

I'm smack dab in the middle of NY and Philly in the wonderful city of Trenton,NJ and I have yet to have 3G that I can use anyway. I can the icon but it cuts in and out and when I try and use it it doesn't fly.

I know some here in Elizabeth that have it and it's working for them though.

Earlier tonight I took a ride and I was messing with the LTE on/off setting. Set it to EVDO only, got 3G icon and 3 bars then after about 10 seconds icon disappeared and had no service. Then put it back on CDMA auto prl. Got 3G again but only for about the same amount of time then it dropped to 1x. Using 3023.prl. Should I just give up?

I thought I saw a few posts about changing some code string in the actual fimware to have a better shot at connecting but I have no idea how to do it.

What carriers do you guys have? Have you tried others? I can't believe you don't have 3G...especially in the state capitol! I'm in Monmouth county and att and Verizon are both good here. I think maybe tmobile as well. Not sure about sprint. AT&T gets about 3 to 4mbps here and Verizon 1mbps. It's fairly steady. I haven't done much traveling yet with my phone but I thought NJ had 3G covered and 4G is on its way. Something isn't right here...

Guys, I'm sure another carrier has 3G in your area...

Oops, no I didn't realize. So how come you stay with MetroPCS if you can hardly even get 3G in your area? Maybe it's time to switch?

Because I'm not going to pay a carrier $50 that I pay right now for everything to only get voice and text and then another $20, $30, $40...etc to get one of their data plans that will only allow me to use however much data they see fit to give me.

Same here i heard boosts 3G is really good but I can't switch so imma get the Samsung galaxy indulge to solve my problems

Screw that. Maybe in a few years when they come down in price and if they don't stop selling them. Already I don't see the Optimus M on Metros website.

That's the only thing that grind my gears with Metro. There's no incentive to trade in your phone and have the savings carried over on the purchase of a new one. I paid top price for this phone when it first came out then they dropped about 3 or 4 months later. No way am I shelling out $300 again just for 4G.

$25 for 2gb data through AT&T is worth it for me. I get service everywhere, and I'm actually getting close to 4G speeds while you're barely getting anything. I know you're trying to save money and I respect that, but there's a reason those plans are so cheap. It's up to you whether or not you actually need 3G or not.

Well in all respect to other carriers, they might have the best data and services all around but here where i live, metro is pretty good here. I can download a 12MB file from market in a minute tops. While my friends phone from at t is roughly the same. It all depends on area, most places get insane plans and service. But throught time, a carrier will improve little by little. Like when sprint started, their little 12 keh phone and red logo sign said it all. But over time, all you start hearing is crazy deals that brought attention. I can guarantee that later on Metro will get so much better, they are still starting and are pretty good..... And as for Andyo, you give my phone meaning :p if it wasnt for you on and your lgnpst files, i would have never even decided to go on androidforums, Your files helped me do everything from flashing prls to unbricking phones and restoring service and downgrading. I'd be on my 30th optimus if you never posted those files XD. So basically, your a legend to me, just like Reppard Playful BobZ and Kelso :p

Not to stay off topic(because I still have no 3G) but Metro is like any other start up company. AT&T wasn't a monster company when they started out, nor was verizon or even my bank Wells Fargo. That's the way business works, some companies grow and prosper other fail.

I've had all of the big three and their services suck sometimes too. The difference is they have such a wide customer base that the complaints and bad stories are in the minority while at Metro they seem to be magnified due to the size of the subscriber base.

Metro isn't going away and they have forced the big three to offer the same type plans with off shoots of their main mega company. Why? Because even the big three realize Metro has a good idea and business plan to reach the entire spectrum of customers from the rich doctor to the middle class worker who just wants new technology.

I'm happy with Metro for the most part and have no plans to look back or return to any of the big three. Given enough time Metro will get there, just like everyone laughed at FOX network saying it would never be able to compete against ABC,NBS and CBS. We all know how that turned out as FOX is now an equal.

I agree as well but they have so many customers and getting hella money. And most of there customers are unhappy with metros customer service and data connection and any other thing in between. If they don't atleast try to progress in a good way for us then soon they'll lose customers and then later have nothing for being such jackasses.
