If Sprint released the Evo3D and SGS2 and Photon on the same day which would you pick?

Which phone if all 3 on the same day ?

I agree that samsungs post-release support for their phones is not good. I'm not buying until they fix the LOS issue on the epic touch... which is the same stance I took last year when they couldn't get the GPS fixed on the galaxy phones.

However, I disagree with your comment about real world differences not being noticeable. Browsing is the only thing I do on my phone where I am always annoyed by the slow speed. The speed difference of the epic touch compared to every other phone I've used is very noticeable especially when browsing desktop websites.

Then you haven't tried the EVO 3D. The wifi on the 3D is much stronger so it loads pages faster, and then the radio for 3g and 4g is stronger so it loads pages faster. I tried them side by side and no reason to lie, plus the shortcomings with the Epic Touch having weak radios is evidence enough.

Assuming that can be fixed on the Epic Touch, that can be remedied though, but will they do it is the question.

I compared them side by side, the epic was noticeably faster. There are also some real-world head-to-head videos over at pocketnow where the SGS2 series has beat every other phone in real life web browsing speed, most of them by a pretty wide margin.

That said, speed is not everything. Consistent signal connectivity is far more important to me then a faster browsing experience.

My experience with the EVO 3D is the same. I browse and post here using my phone and it is fast and responsive. While I do not own the Epic Touch I can say that my EVO 3D performs better on the web than the NS4G.

There is also a video of the epic touch getting spanked badly by the iPhone. I started to make some videos of this but the level of importance wasnt there for me. The Epic didn't load one single page faster. And even over WiFi the epic touch on the video was slow to load the pages.

I guess everyone will have to see for themselves. Reviews can only be taken so far, I have yet to see any reviewers report LOS or weak radios yet hundreds of people have the problem.

I was going to get the NS4G back in May. I ordered a battery, charger,Incipio Feather(black)case and didn't get the phone because of *signal issues*. If you want any of that stuff PM me. :D

And while everyone else around you that does not own a Samsung phone will be getting updates on a regular basis....well....i'll be here laughing.

Besides, I get an upgrade every 6 months, so when quad-core phones start coming out, I still wont give a crap about Samsung or its Nexus Prime. Quad Core phones will blow it away!
Nexus Prime is a vanilla phone; no touch wiz bloat should ensure faster updates. Isn't that the point w/ vanilla Goog phones?

I certainly don't get upgrades every 6 mo though.. guess I could join racket, and just sell phone, break (near) even after new phone purchase, then rinse and repeat, but that's just do much work/hassle for me in the short haul.

Upgrading from a Hero and I want the next upgrade to last. Perfect timing in Dec as I'm up for upgrade; gettin' the chica an iPhone 4S :/

Getting the Epic Touch 4G just seems wrong at this point as it was already 6 mo. old before it hit the U.S.; and why bother moving crapware if I can get the phone w/o said crapware. Not even considering the 3Vo.

I agree about reviews. I check out reviews but I base my opinions on hands on, real world results. One of my biggest pet peeves is browser benchmarks... I have yet to find a web browser benchmark that reflects real world browser performance.

But my Epic 4G Touch mops my friend's Sprint iPhone 4S in a "real world" browser test on WiFi and on 3G I had the most wins but he had a few. All of the Galaxy S2's are far faster in the browser than any other phone. That reviewer must've had a bad unit, just like he could've easily gotten an EVO 3D with WiFi problems.

So i guess my epic was faulty too then..........

My roommate just bought the SGS2 (I have a 3vo), a few things:

-I miss SAMOLED so freaking much. It looks waaaaaaaay nicer than qHD :/
-SGS2 is about half the weight of the Evo3d (the batteries are apparently rated for the same time, I have no idea how that's possible, the thing is paper-light)
-I don't use sense or the 3d aspect at all (I use CM7, and tbh I think 3d is just a novelty)

I think if Spring called me today and offered a free straight-up trade of my 3vo for a new SGS2, I'd probably take it. Since I hate sense and don't use 3d, I can't think of any upside of the heavier, less-pretty-screened Evo 3d

BUT, this was definitely the best phone available to me at the time, so I have no regrets :)

EDIT: I only played with it for like 30 seconds though, so all of this post is contingent on SGS2 having comparable performance to the 3vo (which I imagine it would)

Reading through this post, I am surprised that more people aren't going with the Photon. It has a great display, (I can actually see it outside), the speaker is loud, the call quality is the best of any phone that I have had, and this thing can really pull in a signal. I have not had any problems with the phone locking up, or freezing. Everything just seems to work.

I root so none of those things is ever an issue since they're tweakable

I know what you meant, but you should realize that SAMOLED is a display technology, and qHD is a resolution. It would be like saying, "I miss CRT monitors so much. It looks way nicer than VGA."

If you prefer SAMOLED, you prefer it over the LCD display of the Evo 3D. If you're comparing resolution, you could say you prefer the E4GT's WVGA over the E3D's qHD. But that wouldn't make much sense since qHD is higher res than WVGA. So I know you meant the former comparison.

Yeah I wasn't meaning to imply they're mutually exclusive, I was just comparing the screen on one phone to the screen on the other. I prefer standard res SAMOLED to qHD LCD, although obviously SAMOLED qHD would be the best haha, but none of the topic phones have that, so I was just pointing out my preference
