Hi I have a real problem with my phone. It beeps everytime I get an email. The only way I can stop it to to make it completely silent. Ideally I want it to only make sound when I get a call or an sms. Its a new phone with android 2.2.2. I never had problem with my G1.

I've searched for hours and spent days trying to fix it. I have both email applications set to silent and notifications set to silent.

Please help it is keeping me awake and really affecting my quality of life.

I don't have a solution as to why turning off notifications isn't working for you, but until you're able to figure that problem out, a temporary solution/workaround would be to use a silent ringtone as the notification sound for emails.

There are a ton at Zedge (which also has an app on the market). For example - Download Silent Ringtone ringtones to your cell phone - ringtone silent - 4861164 | Zedge

Good luck figuring out the root problem.

lol. If its that big of a deal put the phone on silent mode or turn it off..although I suspect you are doing it wrong. try menu>settings>notifications and turn em off. Then turn on the sms notifications through the app
