Upgrade from Eris

I am able to get an upgrade tomorrow and I am curious if you guys the owners of this phone are generally happy with it? I would be coming from the Eris and I want to know any information on whether I should get this phone or another in the Verizon line up?

You won't get an unbiased opinion in this forum. We all like our Incredible 2s. And many of us came from the Eris.

I had an Eris from the time it was first introduced. I am very happy with the Incred 2. The processor in Eris was not fast enough to pull it off. This one is.

No phone is perfect and if you take some time to scan the threads here you will see there have been issues. Some people feel the battery life is insufficient and there have been assorted software glitches. With this in mind I'm still very satisfied with the Dinc2 and recommend it. An important thing to be on the lookout for is simply a bad unit which has problems not representative of the phone generally. Just be prepared to exchange it right away. One exception is the speakerphone which is weak. If having a strong speakerphone is a high priority then this may not be the phone for you - test it in the store.

Juice Defender extends battery life enough to make this a non-issue for me. I haven't had significant problems with any of the stock apps and in any case there are many free third party apps that offer more features (I use the "GO" apps such as Go Contacts and Go Launcher EX). The latest Gingerbread build (2.3.4) is stable.

There's a separate section here for rooting. I don't know what the current status is for GB 2.3.4. Is there something important you need root for?

Root is worth it just for AdFree. Then there are ROMs, they can make the phone way faster.

I had the Eris as well, and upgrading to this phone was the best decision I ever made. Everything from speed, to battery life is worlds apart from the Eris.

Did the same switch.
Don't look back! DInc2 has been exciting the past few months, ROM's are now developed at a quick pace. You'll soon have your own stable(harem?) of ROM's on your SD card. Enjoy!

As a former Eris user, I'm just going to echo what a few others have said: if you liked the Eris, you'll love the Inc2.
Install the free version of Juice Defender, and you'll be good to go!

I have run the DInc2 with and without juice defender, and I don't think it is necessary with some of these roms. I get fantastic battery life without it quite often. I do think it is a great app though!
