Anyone else wishing there were a 10" Kindle Fire option in time for Xmas?

You know what the perfect size is? The one that best suits YOU. If you like the 7" form factor, then that's the one for you. If you like the 8.9", then that's your baby. And finally, if you like the 10.1" tablets, then that's your match. Not everyone will agree which one is the best/right/perfect size. It's individual taste, otherwise, they wouldn't make so many sizes to confuse us all. Clearly, Samsung is trying to hit everyone's sweet spot with the multiple sizes they are cranking out...eventually, they will whittle production down to the top 2 is my guess.

There were additional rumors that Amazon may scrap the 10" and put out a slightly smaller version (I think it was 9.7", but not totally sure of the size). I played with several at a Best Buy and thought the 7" tablets were just too small, not much bigger than my Droid X! The 10" tablets were nice, but I think the Galaxy Tab 8.9 totally won me over. What kills me is the price, especially with a lack of connections (HDMI, USB, microSD, etc). I know I probably won't need the extra memory, but connecting it to my PC or TV would be a nice plus.

I've read reports that Amazon will be releasing an 8.9" tablet by the end of the year.:)

Honestly, no. Maybe an 8.9", but I suspect 7" will be pretty close to perfect. But they'll build one, and it'll be a mistake, because it'll frame the question in purchaser's minds as Fire vs. iPad (Fire... okay, big vs. small. Big! Okay... well, wait, why am I buying this and not an iPad?) , and I doubt they're ready for that. Android fans would still buy it, but the iPhone 4's sales has shown that specs don't matter half as much as polished UX.

Exactly! Amazon needs to compete in a place the iPad hasn't touched, but innovate where others have failed. That's exactly what Apple does with most of their new products. Perhaps Amazon has been studying Apple to find their gaps.
