Defectors vs. Time

Just wondering how the frequency of Gnex defectors is going to change over time as two variables influence their decisions on a smartphone:
(1) release date uncertainty and inability to wait any longer
(2) disappointment with the actual Gnex device and realization that RAZR totally rocks

Discuss.

Well I returned my RAZR due to poor battery, and replaced it with the SGS2, because I absolutely hate the look of the Gnex.

I stopped following that thread after it hit 22k. They seriously do not have a release date? Color me shocked. Considering the scratch VZW is throwing down on Razr advertising, I'd be surprised if they get it before turkey day. Given the battery redesign, and rumors of issues with ICS, that had better be the best freakin' phone ever with the way they are getting jerked around.

According to our source on Gnex forum, Nexus has no hardware, software issue now. It's just verizon holding it up in order to sell as many Razr, Rezound possible for first few weeks before releasing Gnex.

It's funny that there is thread on Gnex forum about "getting Razr/Rezound with full intent to return it for Gnex", and here defecting to Razr is discussed. I don't see many Gnex folks defecting yet. Seems like Rezound is more popular among Gnex fans as fall back option or the phone to hold over to Gnex release. I personally will wait until the end of next week and if there is still no Gnex announcement from verizon, I might get Razr to hold me over to it.

If anything we should know by now, at this point in 2011...there will ALWAYS be some issue that comes with a new phone....always. No matter the manufacture, OS.

dr01d3tte shoulda put a :D after 2)...lol

I already saw one post in here that got the RAZR after not knowing when the Nexus was coming. Like Sandroidfan mentioned tho, its the same thing going on the Nexus side too....ppl might get it fully expecting to return it when the Nexus comes out. So its a 2 way street.

I was gonna get a Rezound to see some stuff...but I gotta say...I actually like Amoled screens now...lol. If the Bionic screen has more "vibrant" colors than regular LCD's (yea vibrant is in quotation marks cuz its considered over saturated) I might pick that over the Rezound.

I think some ppl are gonna be disappointed in the Rezound that wanted it. Some ppl say the screen is miles better than the RAZR....I didnt see that today. Depending on what YOU prefer, you might like the RAZR screen better. I think the kicker for me is the Pentile issues arent as bad as some ppl make it.

Oh and Droidette. I think it's awesome you chose the RAZR over the Galaxy Nexus. You're like a chick who likes guns lol. Love it.

Chuck Norris and Taylor Lautner are in Verizon who would go for the RAZR and who would go for the G Nex?

Michelle Rodriguez and Natalie Portman go into Verizon. Who comes out with the RAZR and who comes out with the G Nex?

Agreed. When I was in the store tonight, I was not as impressed with the Rezound screen as I thought it would be. Maybe it is just me, but I honestly can't tell the difference between the RAZR screen and the Rezound screen. I mean, if I hold it right up to my face and squint and examine I can but...just holding it normally? Nope.

What I meant is no major technical issue to keep Gnex from being released. Of course it will have some minor issues like any other phone that can be fixed with updates.

I personally like razr better than rezound as I don't like resource/battery eating sense and small battery in rezound. But my friends over at gnex forum seem to prefer rezound mostly.

No no no no no, you are doing it wrong. First off, you have to read the specs only, don't actually look at the phone. I've never seen one, but I know the Rezound screen has to be better because it is HD, and everything is better with HD. It's like bacon or ranch dressing.

You leave Ms. Portman alone. BTW does anybody else feel dirty now watching her in The Professional? I mean, I don't, but a friend of mine is weirded out by it...

As for the GNex crowd favoring the Rezound over the Razr, makes sense from a style perspective. If I can't have my jellybean, I'll take the fat jellybean.

I don't suppose CNet rating Razr as an editor pick and the top rated cell phone of 2011 (to date) will make anyone happier over there.

I was at the Verizon store last night as well and give the Razr screen a significant edge. I much prefer the black blacks, unlimited viewing angle and vibrant colors of the amoled. In fact, the rezound had about the grayest looking blacks I've seen in a long time.

Maybe the Rezound has a bit of an edge for reading black on white text, but everything else the Razr wins.

None of them get out of the store alive because Sean Connery wastes them with his James Bond special issue Droid RAZR!!!

Personally....I'm very very Tired of waiting for the GNex,,,this is vzw greed in all its glory! I doubt there is anything wrong with the phone at all...these mojos are just dragging they're feet! Seriously....3 high end smart phones on one carrier within 1 month? They shot themselves in the Foot!

As for the Rezound/Razr screen edge! Goes to the Razr! Yes the Rezound has great clarity (awesome clarity) but the blacks are very washed, and colors have no punch at all...even compared to the Bionics color tones. Look at it this way, if your indoors all day, and read tons of text, the Rezound is your winner....the whites are so crisp and clear! But if that's not the case, the Razr is a sure bet winner here. Whites are nowhere near as good as the Rezounds, but the trade off is deep deep blacks, and absolutely beautiful colors.

I couldn't bring myself to love the Rezound, sense just does nothing for me! And to be honest....this is gonna sound nuts...but the Rezound felt like I was holding my old iPhone 3Gs....seriously!

I like cutting edge, new stuff! So the shape and feel of a 3Gs wasn't going to do it for me in 2011/12! Yes, real comfortable in the hand...but an old feeling to be honest!

As for me trading up for a GNex...I'm not at liberty to discus my phone addiction your Honor...lmaooo

Went to VZW store last night, had to see for myself once and for all.

Held the RAZR in one hand, and the Rezound in the other, as literal a side-by-side comparison as I'll ever get. Both screens are great, RAZR is a little wider, muuuch thinner (duh). RAZR was faster. Opening apps, switching screens, loading... I chalk that up to Sense.

I had originally cast my lot with the Rezound, but after last night, its the RAZR for me. Plus I know I'm getting a better battery with the RAZR.

I recommend others do this as well, for anyone that's on the fence between these two phones, it was the best way to make a once-and-for-all decision.

Yeah, all signs point to that 11/17 was supposed to be Gnex launch date, VZW stores receiving accessories, training material, Gnex passing FCC yesterday, Google releasing ICS source code, launching in UK this week, etc. Plus verizon is not so excited about no bloats, no update control on Gnex from their side. So they pushed it back and its release is up in the air.

As for Razr vs Rezound, my vote is also Razr for faster speed, longer battery life, colorful screen.

Yea but how far up in the air is the million dollar question? I mean would they really risk going into say the middle of December?

This is not the old Motorola they're dealing with! Its Samsung and more importantly Google head on. Would vzw really be willing to risk hurting a relationship, or sales of Google's flag ship device because of they're Hitler like control methods towards updates?

They did this once before with Apple years ago when they were approached to carry the iPhone...they paid dearly for it for many years to follow before getting a chance to carry and sell the iPhone on they're network.....Would they be willing to gamble again?
