Navigation Mount - Anyone have it?

Does the OEM mount for this phone have the USB plug integrated so I don't have to fiddle with cables? My DX mount is like this and I really like it that way.

I have one. Your existing car charger plugs into the back of the mount. It's actually a pretty nice little mount. The only bad thing is you have to use it in landscape only...

Seriously? That's a deal killer as navigation in portrait mode is far far better than landscape.

That removes the RAZR from consideration. I'll stick with my DX for now.

Yeah, I was surprised about that too. It does look good though. It really isn't that bad.

will your phone fit in the mount with a case on it or does it have to be bare?

I don't have a case, but by the looks of my car dock there is no way a case would fit. There is no insert to remove for additional bulk on the phone like the DX dock had.

There is a removable insert on the dock to allow for a case

i went to radio shack to take a peek at what their universal car mounts looked like...and i picked one up, did some modification, and mounted it in my truck in the center console. will post pics later this week

Whoa! I better check my facts before posting up! I'll go take a peek at my dock again, wouldn't be the first time I overlooked something obvious

Edit: Page 1 of the instruction book clearly says "remove the adapter plate when using a protective case with your phone".

i got the mount - it uses a ball-joint so you can swivel and use the phone in any orientation.

Wait, you have the OEM dock and it can be used in portrait mode? How come a previous poster said it can only be used in landscape mode?

The car dock software only works in landscape, not sure if you can disable that. Physically you can put it in any orientation you like.

Btw, motorola car finder app is pretty cool, automatically remembers where you undocked your phone.

use dock nothingness from the market....disables the dock app from starting

I just used my doc on a trip and I really enjoyed having it. The doc app does only seem to work in landscape mode, but you can use the back key to get to your normal phone screen and launch navigation from there. The doc has holes for your camera (in case you want to film the road ahead) and spots open for a headphone jack so you can plug it into your stereo (if equipped with an AUX jack). I actually used iHeartRadio on the entire trip instead of my normal radio.

if you get the correct power cord with split for 3.5mm headphone built in, you will not even have to plug into your headphone jack, simply drop the phone in the doc and it charges and plays audio out the usb cable/3.5mm split.

the downside is that you will have to hit the speaker button to hear call audio through your car stereo. If you have the headphone cable plugged in, then it automatically comes through the headphone output.

I don't know what the cable is called, but it came with my droid 3 nav dock, and work perfect on this one. I was surprised it did not come with the same cable.
