I am rooted running a Frozen Syndicate ROM and the Twilight Zone 1.1.1 kernel (froyo).

I really don't want the OTA update for Gingerbread, which my phone is now bugging me about. How can I disable and stop this notification? So far I've just been up to select 'later', but not remove it.

Thx!

Haven't had a chance to verify yet...

EDIT EDIT: Here is what I did to kill the notification...

If you change the system/ build.prop to the proper EI22 information, you would be able to avoid having the phone prompting you to update.

You will need the correct EI22 info to change...

ro.build.description=SPH-D700-user 2.3.5 GINGERBREAD EI22 release-keys

ro.build.fingrtprint=sprint/SPH-D700/SPH-D700/SPH-D700:2.3.5/GINGERBREAD/EI22:user/release-keys

The 1st one worked for me (so far).

Thanks icecold -- hmm, the link on the XDA site seems to suggest there's an app (FOTAKill) that might or might not work.

What did you do exactly? You edited /system/build.prop only? That's pretty slick.

Yes, that is all I did... I haven't looked at the FOTAKill files yet to see what it exactly does, but I have done the edit build.prop a few times. I tend to stick to what I know works, and like to know exactly what is being changed.

I would create a backup of the original just in case, but if you are using Root File Explorer it does it automatically...
