Ehh.. It's hard for me to take these reviews seriously when their using pre-release/pre-production models (Just how current is the hardware and software?). But it's fun to read nonetheless. The review I'm really looking forward to is the Anandtech review of the SGN.
It sure was largely negative. In fact, if you read her review of the Razr, it was clear throughout that review that she was much more jazzed about the Razr than the Nexus.
I don't know if I would call the review "harsh". I think he is correct in stating the phone is really about ICS and a pure Google experience, not hardware. Spec-wise it is in line with the RAZR, Rezound, and GS2.
Cnet really did have a negative tone. I could even feel it while reading the review. But I take what they say with a grain of salt because to me the iPhone is not the greatest thing ever.

Even hardware wise, nexus is better or competitive at least. None of them has both HD SAMOLED and OMAP 4460. Antutu benchmark shows OMAP4460 is a little faster than Exynos at the same clock speed.

100% true....like so many of us say, these reviews are just tools, by no means should anyone deter anyone away from checking out a phone...Especially if its a review site that thinks the iPhone is in actuality the best phone out there.
