surprised no one else has any input on this.

I ran it. I'd say about 60% of what it looks for is resident on my phone.

I'm not going to bother manually removing it all. At least not right now. If I decide its worth it I'd prolly just pay the dollar and be lazy and have the app do it.

I'm also not all that concerned about all this.

I'm all for transparency and applaud the work being done. I hate some of the sneakier methods companies take data and profit off it. Especially when they flat out lie about how, why, if, when, etc.

But... I realize for some companies thats the business model and they put out some great products which are free and supported by aggregating such data. And, that other companies use this data for product support and improvement.

AKA nothing this app checks for is something i find immediately alarming but it couldn't hurt to nuke it all the same. Or so it seems.

I bet a lot of people install app's that do much worse and they don't realize it. "OH SWEET... NEW FREE ZYNGA GAMES"... "read what permissions before i install"???

Have you read more into what Trev has done? It's a lot more serious to me. Your phones basically an rfid chip that keeps its own logs and sends them to others. There's a lot more to this, but it's also something I'm surprised more people haven't said anything about.

Then again, I wonder how many actually understand what it means. /takes off tin foil hat

Pay attention to what? You mean she was talking? :D

Seriously, there prolly hasn't been much comment cause we had similar discussions not too long ago. I personally donated to trevE for his effforts in digging this up.

This is definately why I root my phones and run custom firmware.

Well, considering this started on a sprint phone and the government has stakes in sprint, and the feds were buying Nextel... No tin foil hat needed.
damn...
Judge Rules Law Enforcement Must Have a Warrant To Access Your Location Data Judge Rules Law Enforcement Must Have a Warrant To Access Your Location Data

Yet another reason it matters. Warrant or no warrant.

Must have warrant? BULLLLL! If law enforcement wants to know something they will find out. Law enforcement does whatever they want and they call it probable cause. They have a device now they attach to your phone to copy all your data if they find "probable cause." But that's nothing. I wouldn't be worried about law enforcement checking up on your location. I'd be more worried about big brother gov watching. Watch Jesse Ventura, you'll see. And you think facebook is bad? (for those that don't know facebook was seceretly taken over by the gov to keep tabs on everyone and to know what everyone is doing at all times and where they are hence the check in feature) google is KING of snooping and privacy invasion. It's the worst. So actually it really isn't surprising our phones have all this snoop software. Hey I don't make this stuff up. Everything I stated here can all be backed up just google it. lol thats ironic

p.s. don't think they dont use onstar to see where you drive cause they do and they listen in on ur convos despite their clause stating they would never do that. they were exposed on the snooping not too long ago.

p.p.s boxxy moment @ 1:47 on vid lmao

ill say it again... TrevE is one that everyone should be donating to. his work and findings affect almost everyone,no matter whay kind of phone you have.
