I wish you were right, but Matias works for Google, not Verizon. I have a feeling there is major bad vibes flowing between the two companies (if BMX tweet is any indication), and I wouldn't even be surprised if Verizon is taking a financial penalty by delaying the phone further, which they have deemed worthwhile as the money they will make from additional sales of RAZRs and Rezounds will more than make up for it. And I will be shocked if we ever see a Nexus on Verizon again.
While he doesn't work with Verizon, they'd be in the loop on things. After all, Google is one of the partners on the contract. There is no way they'd have no info on what's going on (it's likely release dates were part of the contract and changing them would involve informing all parties.. probably mostly to protect Verizon should their be issues with supply from Samsung).
And as far as there being bad blood, if Steve Jobs reopened talks with Verizon after basically telling them to take a walk on the first iPhone with their demands for control, I don't see Google doing anything different. They may change the terms of the contract some to have things closer to how they want them, but they will partner with Verizon again (unless Verizon slides from their current perch at the top of the US cellular market). And Verizon will have to unless they want to lose most of their smartphones other than the iPhone now that Google owns Motorola.
While we may not see it Monday, I think we still see it next week (actually I think they release the Gnex and put the Razr and Rezound on sale for BF).
Hrm. Odd thought while typing that. Wonder if release would be quicker if the phone was renamed Galaxy Nexuz with the red Verizon z. Crappy name, but we've got the Razr and Rezound already..
