***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Did Verizon not have to guarantee a release date to carry this thing? Why would Google let them just sit on it?

In the end, I can complain all I want and threaten to leave, but Verizon reigns supreme in my area. I'll still be getting a Nexus at launch, even if I pay $299 for only 16GB.

If the $299 for 16Gb does turn out to be true... then I'll probably wind up getting the Rezound or the Razr. Sad...sad

I think we can all hope for a tunraround on this though. Let's face it - none of the information or dates we have received so far has been accurate - so I am just going to wait and see. :D

I might have to jump ship. This rollercoaster is getting to violent for me. I'd like to hold on but I'm loosing strength.
I held the resound again yesterday and it felt great. Screen is gorgeous. Has an SD slot.....
Besides my wife has a upgrade available in February. Maybe the resound can be my warm up for the pig they call the Edge...

any thoughts from you guys on this? I know some have vowed to stick it out, but I know some are thinking of alternate plans.

The rezound seems to be a great phone, and I would have a chance to upgrade again early next year. (of course that would be the case if wait for the nexus too)

Does anyone want to talk me off the ledge? Or perhaps some wants to grab my hand and jump with me. Or maybe sombody might just give me a swift push from behind...

Sgs2 is also on 3g, I wouldn't want to be on a 2 year with the old tech. Their lte network and my grandfathered unlimited means they got me by the.... marbles

Yes, I'm fully aware that the SGS2 is 3G only and that's OK with me. While it certainly has "old" tech compared to the Nexus, it would certainly keep me happy for two years especially with CyanogenMod.

I currently have an OG Droid with a failing camera. It's running CM6 with a P3Droid kernel and memory tweaks. I'm frustrated with it and am tired of tweaking it. Sadly, it would still be great if only it had more RAM.

Dear Mr. Greene,

Thank you for your email and your continued support of Verizon Wireless. We at Verizon are doing everything possible to earn the support of our customers every day. While we are not able to share our specific marketing plans at this time, please know that we fully intend to introduce more and more exciting, and industry leading products as quickly as our team can manage. We appreciate the support of those who have decided to purchase the Razr and Rezound and fully believe that they will enjoy the kind of mobile experience that has drawn so many customers to Verizon Wireless. If you should have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service at 1-800- 922-0204. Thank you again for your continued support and please know that we will continue to earn your business.

VZW

The letter you are not going to get.

Dear Mr. Greene,

Do you have any idea the capital investment required to introduce a new phone to our customers? Do you really think that we would in any way jeopardize our business plan to satisfy the wants of some forum geeks who crave a new phone. The fact is, your forum is creating even more hype and interest in our new offerings and the longer this goes on, the better our introductory sales are going to be. As for customers "renting" our new Razr and Rezound, who cares? These people are still signing contracts to use our wireless service and this my friend is what our business is really all about. Our agreements with cell phone manufacturers place this "renting" cost squarely on their backs and not ours. As long as we do not introduce the Nexus within 14 days (return period) of the "renting" of said phones, our "renters" are now obilgated to our service for the next two years. As we are fully aware of when these "rentals" initiated, we are now planning the calculated introduction date of the Nexus to coincide with the capture of these "renters" after their 14 day return period. Furthermore, we have a few "glitches" with the LTE version of the Nexus, and we can't really come out and say that now can we? Now to fully cut to the chase, we at Verizon are completely aware that we provide the best cellular service in America and that anyone who actually compares our offerings with another provider would be a fool to choose another service provider. In short," where do you think you are going?". You have fun on your little forum, and we will continue to kick ass and take names here in our little part of the world. Relax, it will be out soon enough.

Best wishes,
VZW

I did get a call back from one email I sent about a week ago, and the exec's secretary was extremely helpful. Of course, she didn't give me any new information but it seemed she understood my frustration and said there was nothing I could do about it. Nothing I could do about it, but something WE can do about it!

If it turns out to be true, I will stick w my DINC2. I'm pretty happy with it andI'm sure ICS will arrive (via XDA - not Verizon) fairly soon. In that case I will get: expandable memory, better battery, bigger camera, more tolerable size, etc.

Razr is not even an option for me because i don't like the way it sits in my hand, just too wide. Also the screen is nothing to write home about. Rezound specs are nice, screen is very nice, but the phone is just as plain as the rest of HTC phones that are out. Just nothing special about it that stands out to me, no character. So as upsetting as it is that the delay for SGN keeps extending, I will stick it out and get what I am really after.

PS. Never found a need to have more than 16 GB in the phone.

OG Droid here too, bought on launch day surviving with gpa19 on it. I want stock again badly without being forced to play root-n-rom

I have avoided the peaks and valleys of emotion so far on this thread by just focusing on the fact that we were eventually going to have this phone in our hands. I was only really looking forward to the quick updates as there are phones with nice screens, nice cameras, lots of memory but they all suffer from what i like to call VZW update lag, if these apps are the problem wouldn't they also be a problem for updates? If this is true then for the first time since the beginning of this ride I'm telling the driver to pull over and let me out. Here's to a great ride but one that may be over for me.

I hate to say it but I pretty much agree. Jobs at least had a backbone when it came to these things and at least it got things done.

Yeah, but only because the first time Verizon didn't budge, They took it to AT&T, and spanked Verizon in new sign-ups for smart phones. Verizon was desperate to end that monopoly, and gave up the holy grail in their eyes, control, to do it. Clearly they don't view Google and the Galaxy Nexus in the same light.

The ONLY reason I have not gone to the Verizon store already is that I know I will walk out with a phone. I am weak...I really want the GNex...so I just have to tell myself "No"

Won't talk you off the ledge, rather tell you to get what you like. Go get a rezound or razr these are super nice phones! Or sgsII (not on t-mobile though).

You know, byt the time this is all said and done there are going to be phones that we lust after even more than the GN it's a vicious cycle, always has been.

I've decided that the GN is for me. I mean if they delay it till Feb then I'll just wait for the next great. So get what you want and enjoy! :D

I agree... Jobs would have never let Verizon delay a launch (if it truly is delayed) or add anything toa device that he did not want there in the first place.

Hell, Apple got Verizon to change some of their policies (New Every Two, Yearly Upgrades) just to let Verizon carry the unaltered iPhone.

No Verizon bloatware on the iPhone 4 or 4S

Good morning Gnexers.... or is it?

Looks like the thread is in another manic low... and it will go high again eventually. No one ever said this roller coaster was pulling in to a stop. They said they THOUGHT it was.

There WILL be more highs and lows in this thread as we head toward breaking the record and becoming the #1 most EPIC thread in AF history. Which means:

Another euphoric high is coming! :)

Oh by the way: while you're already depressed, looks like Nexus is having some "issues":

Hoping this is not as widespread as I think it may be...

As long as the angry emails, complaints and forum posts are not including any hint of actually getting the phone somewhere else or switching operators, why should VZW care about any of this?

b/c a similar thing was done a month ago to get verizon to at least announce that they are carrying the phone and later that Friday afternoon..they released a statement.

Steven's source said that maybe about 4500 emails were sent out.

If Verizon didn't care about its own customers that's reason enough to leave the carrier entirely. Their new corporate "mission statement" is that their company revolves around the customer, and to be perfectly honest if I'm going to hand over my money for the privilege to use my mobile phone on their network, they better damn well treat me with the respect I deserve. Not saying I'm a king or prince or anything, but it's completely unacceptable for them to treat their consumers like cattle.
