screen protector?

I had a case for my DX when I first got it and couldn't get used to the bulk it added. I've been going caseless since then, first with the DX, then D3 and now with the rezound.

Overall size is really important to me. The DX and rezound, which is virtually the same size is as big as I want my phone to be. That's why the GNex is not really an option for me anymore. I do get a little nervous when I'm walking among a large crowd or getting on/off the subway since I tend to keep my phone gripped in my hand out of habit. Mostly afraid of someone bumping me or inadvertently pulling the headphone cord, which can knock the phone out of my hand. I've had a few close calls but nothing terrible, yet.

Screen protectors are another matter entirely. I had one on my DX and decided to go naked on my D3, placing all my faith in the Gorilla Glass screen. Not two months later, I noticed a mark on it. I say mark because it didn't seem like a scratch. To me a scratch is something you can view at angles. However, the mark on the D3 I could only see at certain angles. Dead on I couldn't see it. I think it might have been some special coating that was put on the D3's screen that was somehow got scarred.

With the rezound, I didn't take any chances. I bought the verizon clear screen protector three-pack when I got the phone. Unlike most verizon protectors that just cover the screen and not the entire glass front, these cover most of the glass (about 1mm short on all sides). It doesn't mess with the clarity or touch sensitivity. Very smudgy though. Still, it's a good temporary solution for now.

Alas, I go without a screen protector because I just don't like them. I have scratched my screen already. But, it is really only noticeable when the screen is off. I still stick by MY decision not to use one. I don't remember how long it took me to scratch my Dinc screen but that has scratches on it too. but it's no wonder, the way it just get thrown in my purse.

One thing with regards to that plastic case that Verizon sells (with the kickstand), since it slides in and out and snaps on, I noticed that it tends to leave scuff marks on the phone if you're one to constantly take the phone out. I'd mostly use the case to transport the phone around, but as soon as I'm where I need to be, I pop that sucker out and thus if you get a case that snaps in, keep that in mind.

I gotta order some stuff from HTCPedia and I might try one of their screen protectors. Worst case it'll hold me over until Steinhill gets off their duff and puts out one for the Rezound.

Just got my 'Clear' that HTCPedia is offering (bought from amazon) haven't put it on though... gonna play with it when i get home probably

Let me know what you think of them. I've tried a couple of others in the past. On my Inc1 had Zagg Invisi-shield, Seidio's in house ones, & finally the Steinhill. On my Inc2 I had one off of ebay that was as good as my SH. It was no name but went on and protected as well. The guy I bought that from doesn't have any for the Rezound so It's either these from HTCPedia or the Verizon ones. The only thing I'd have to check on is if the Verizon ones cover the whole screen. The reason I normally don't go with Verizon's is that their protectors usually only cover the screen itself, not the upper bezel or over the cap. buttons. If I find out they do cover the whole thing I may go with them when I get my battery.

same.

i'm even a ****** and dropped mine at work the other day, almost flipped shit at what an idiot i was (slid off the counter, 4 foot drop on to hard wood floor when i was trying to push the power button) and not a single ding, crack, or scratch on the screen!! and i didn't even hvae my TPU case on yet!! i was about to hang myself. hahaha

This the first drop test of the Rezound that I've read about although it was unintentional. Sounds like it was a successful test!

I got a 3-pack of screen protectors for $1.99 on Amazon. Every phone I've had that is a touch screen I get a protector on just to be on the safe side. When I took my OG Droid to Best Buy to resell it (will get the Car Dock with it when they get it), they were amazed how clean the screen was & I said, "this is probably the longest the phone has been without a cover on it since I got it." I just pulled it off before going there.

haha yup, i'm a **** alright! :p

i don't tihnk this phone is too big in the pocket at all...i'm fine with it in my jeans and in my suit pants. i ALWAYS dedicate one pocket for my phone, so nothing is ever in there with it. i never use screen protectors, but i mean, i could grab some from my store for cost, so maybe i'll get a pack of 3 and try them out....i'm super anal about everything though, so if one spec of dust gets under there, it will bug the hell out of me for weeks on end lol..

my dust thats under the screen bugs the hell out of me, but thankfully you can't even tell it's there with the screen on..can only see it when the screen is 100% wiped down with no smuges on it at all. meh.

One thing I've noticed after using the Rezound without a screen protector, it actually seems more sticky than my Inc2 with the screen protector.

On the Rezound my fingers slide but they do kinda catch every once in awhile. On my Inc2 they glide over the screen and never catch, so looking forward to getting a screen protector on there.

As far as clarity, as long as you go with the clear ones (i.e. not anti-glare, anti-fingerprint, or mirrored) there is not difference in what you see.

just a thought, seeing as though Steinheil will not be making a screen protector for the Rezound, why not just buy a tablet screen protector and cut it to fit the Rezound? i paid $11 for 2 Steinheil screenies for my DInc but you can get a tablet screenie for $14 from them. enough to make at least 2 or more. i think im going to go this route as i already have a very light scratch on my screen.

These phones are too big for jean pockets. You tend to bend at the waist and unless you wear your pants hanging off your butt like they do in the hood, that bend at the waist will spell certain doom to your phone. Not just that, but if you keep loose change or keys in the same pocket, that will also pose a risk to your phone. The only reason I decided to go with a holster is sometimes I'll forget that my phone is in my pocket, and I go to sit down and I can feel the pocket tighten up a bit and I know I'm putting undue pressure on my phone. With a holster if I sit down the phone just sits outside.

Correct, although based on what I've heard Gorilla glass can still break and HTC's glass is pretty comparable in strength to that of Gorilla glass. It's just a marketing name, like "Beats".

I usually wear carpenter jeans and they have a pocket on the side that is perfect for phones so I've never used a screen protector myself.

I tried cutting one and they are a bear to cut and still have it look decent. First you'd have to leave the clear pieces on either side otherwise you'll get crap on the actual protector. Then, unless you cut it where the removal tabs are, it's not going to be easy to remove the protective strips to apply the protector. Trying to cut a rounded corner usually ends up with a jagged look. Not saying it's impossible, but it's a lotta screwing around when there are others that are good as well.

If Steinhill is not going to make, one no big deal. The didn't have one available when I got my Inc2, so I got on off of ebay to tide me over, but it's still on there today. The only screenies I have issues with are ones like Zagg's. As far as swiping smoothness, they almost feel like you're trying to swipe your finger across saran wrap. I think that any screenies that are same style as the Steinhill's (dry application, kind of feel like a sheet of plastic) will work well. The biggest thing with those is finding one with a hardness value (most SH's are like 3H or 4H) if you want similar protection. The ones I got off of ebay are 3H, while not quite as good as their top of the line, they are protecting it well.

I've got a set of the anti-scratch ones from Verizon that should show today. Since I've never actually tried theirs (usually they don't cover the entire face of the phone like most others do, but the Rezound's supposedly do) I'll have to see what I think about them.

I used the Steinheil on my Inc1, and loved it. I used the Seidio on my Inc2, and loved that. Seidio is working on a full line of accessories for the Rezound, but as of yesterday, there is no ETA.

A trick I use to get my fingers to glide across the screen protectors (or a naked screen for that matter) is to clean them with iKlear and the polishing cloth that comes in the iKlear kit (yes, I know it's Apple Polish, please be gentle). It polishes perfectly (no smudges or fogginess), and my fingers absolutely glide across the screen. If you are going to use this, make sure you spray the polish on the cloth, and then wipe the screen so you don't get excess spray into the phone casing.

im not 100 % sure but wasnt the Steinheil for the DInc, a wet application and not dry? are all the Steinheil protectors a dry application now?

im going to order the tablet screenie i posted above and try it. if it doesnt work, its not like ive never wasted $14 before

There might have been a wet app screenie, but the one I got for the Dinc1 was a dry application.

Hey NA, what did you think of the screen protector? I got the same one but didn't really like it. Maybe it was just mine, but it didn't go all the way to the edge of the screen. I took it off and put a VZW protector on. That one fits better, but still leaves a little space between the edge of the protector and bezel.

I guess I got spoiled by the Seidio protector I have on my Dinc2- that one is a perfect fit, and covers the entire front of the phone except for the ear piece, and small cut-outs for the ff camera and proximity sensor. I'm definitely going to get this for the Rezound when it comes out.

As far as looks, there doesn't appear to be any distortion or decrease in screen brightness or detail.

Also, both feel similar. A little iKlear, and my fingers slide across the screen with ease.

Verizon sells the anti glare screen protectors and the clear screen protectors.

Normally I don't like VZ protectors because it was rare to see them cover the whole glass and not just the actual screen area.

I purchased the clear protectors from VZ this time around since they do cover the entire glass. They fit perfect and they look good installed. I never liked any protectors that are anti glare.

I don't know why I keep posting pointless pictures. Just want an excuse to use my camera I guess :D.
