SPB mobile shell 5.0 (Coming to Android)

Anyone remember pointui? That was pretty sweet too for winmo. SH is probably the best home replacement app for Android, on winmo we had quite a few really nice ones though which I would love to see ported over. I remember with the G1 someone at xda was trying to port TouchFlo 3D to Android but he just sorta disappeared without finishing it.

The more I dig into Sweeter Home Preview 2, the more I dislike it. Not from the GUI end of it, but what is going on behind the scenes. I finally realized why the size of the amount of data goes up and up and up the longer you use Sweeter Home ... whether you update your theme, or not. :( The app creates all of these temp files and cache files (seemingly needlessly) in it's data folder. ARGH!!!

And not mention the fact that Sweeter Home uploads all of my custom art whether I want them to or not. Screw that. Their "User Agreement" is nothing short of ridiculous. Basically it states, "What's ours is ours, and what's yours is ours.". I don't think so! :(

SPB MOBILE SHELL! Please save me from this!!!

I'm not totally sold on their 3D carousel. Seems a bit sluggish. Hopefully they optimize it.

I do like the fact that you can drop any Android widget on top of their GUI. No mention of price yet.

The carousel was super smooth on my Omnia, Touch Pro and Touch Pro2 and it tilts with movement of the G-Sensor. I dont think you have anything to worry about.

SPB MS sells for $29.95 for WinMo and I would imagine they will retain the same price point for Android.

@ GrandMasterB: I'm just going off the demo video I posted. You'll notice in the vid, it took several seconds for the carousel to kick in. I'm not dissing MS, believe me. Was a huge fan of MS on my old WinMo phone.

I know MS sold for $30 for WinMo, but I just think SPB will have a hard time selling it for Android at that price to the masses. I think most people won't see enough of a difference between the stock UI and MS to fork out $30. With all of the free/cheap home replacement apps already out, $30 looks really steep. I'll try it out, being a long time fan, but I'm not convinced I'll want to spend $30 on it, when I'm already quite happy w/ Home++ at $0. It'll have to really blow me away to pull $30 outta me.

Just my 2 cents...

I used spb ms 2 & 3 on winmo for a while, then always back to touchflo3d. For me it was more efficient. But when I tried android on my winmo, I was sold. The homescreen and widgets were just my style. Now with my droid I run GDE. It keeps the look of android but adds some functionality.

IMO, spb sold well on winmo because winmo's touch interface was only touchable with a stylus. If they come out at a $30 price, I think they should just call it spb 4, b/c it will fail. But if it is as good as it was on winmo, maybe 10-15 would be fair.

In the end, this is still why I am loving android, lots of options to customize and make it your own. And Spb made some other great programs for winmo. I would like to see what else they can bring to android.

Agreed, MS was a must-have app for WinMo, even at $30, because it totally changed the phone & made it finger-friendly. Huuuuge difference.

I don't see it having that same incredible night/day difference on Android. I think $9.95 is more in line w/ the value it would add to an Android phone. I just don't see it selling well in the Android Market unless they price it aggressively.
