Motorola Knows about the Razr rattle issue

Anyone Seen this about the Droid Razr Rattle issue? Quote from : Droid razr ear speaker rattle... - Page 3

So forgot to update what happen when I went to the Verizon store today. So one of the reps had the phone and said he had the problem as well and told me to put my volume on Max. I did no problem. He said watch a movie or video or someway to get my phone warm. Took about 10 min to get it hot. He said now listen to music again and call your voice mail.

I was shocked.

The rattle was bad. You can really hear it badly. He told me the phone is amazing. I wouldnt trade it for another phone but they were told by moto reps that they know of an issue about the rattle in the speakers and its due to.....

the heat

Apparently the glue/adhesive in those areas are affected by it because those location are the holes in a sense where the heat escapes. As you hold your phone up right the heat will go up and come out thru the top. Moto is about to amcounce a revision to the Droid razor to the stores but has asked the reps not to tell costumers. What they will do at the point is replace the phone with another. Since there aren't any revisions right now I would wait to till they do. Sucks I know but now you know what it is chunks of glue that heat up, separate, and cool down to make the rattle noise. Hopefully if this becomes a mainstream problem they will recall the first gen Droid Razrs with the new revised ones.

First off....every single phone rattles! It could be anything from something in the camera mechanism, to the power button, to the volume rocker! Its just a part of the phone game! Trust me, I've returned countless amounts of phones, as well as gone through looking and examining tons of phones in the store before buying....Its a quality control issue! And every single manufacturer has this issue. Yes if you gently tap the phone on your hand or a surface you will hear some rattling, trying to find one that doesn't do it will drive anyone mad. And I've had people who have said....my phone doesn't do that....lol, grab the phone and tap it on something, and the rattling is there...lol
Is what it is!

Lol... every phone rattles? Tell that to Apple...

Another week or so for Ice Cream Sandwhich, if it isn't flawless, it's back to 4S for me. Alas, 4G was not meant to be until iPhone 5 it seems.

Your information is false and wrong (regarding this being a known issue that is being kept secret). Which store is spreading this rumor?

First line says " Anyone Seen this about the Droid Razr Rattle issue? Quote from : Droid razr ear speaker rattle... - Page 3 "

So I am quoting a thread from another forum! Some folks here are experiencing the same issues and the person quoted in that thread. Are you saying everyone experiencing the same issues with rattling is making it up?

After reading the post in question on that other forum, I don't see that the member who wrote it provided any useful or tangible facts to support their conclusion. And in looking at the thread in general, most of the posts are coming from the same individual members on that forum.

As such my initial reaction is that the problem is likely not widespread, and until I see someone cite facts that Motorola is aware of the issue, I'm skeptical of the claim that Motorola has admitted that this is a problem.

mine has the rattle. FWIW...

i just spent 40 minutes on the phone with VZW and Motorola (and they were the two nicest reps i've ever spoken with.) i explained the situation to them both and neither have heard of the issue. i even mentioned my online research (and this particular thread) and the motorola guy said he'd never heard of this issue and that if this was a known issue to motorola, he would have access to some sort of documentation of it...and he didn't. then the VZW rep, just for the hell of it, ran and grabbed a RAZR and tried tapping it and shaking just as I explained to her, and no rattle. she offered to send me a replacement before i could even ask for one :) next day air - I'll have it before i leave the office tomorrow night.

anyway, just thought it was worth mentioning here.

just updating for future reference...

i got my replacement phone 10 mins ago. first thing i did was check for the rattle. it has the same exactly "rattle" as my phone, so i'm keeping my original phone and sending back the replacement. i even asked a co-worker and he said they both make the same exact noise, then he said that i'm being neurotic (and he's a VERY neurotic guy) and that it's probably a normal noise because these things aren't handcrafted for the military or anything.

i'm happy.

In past phones Ive had, several rattled, and it was attributed to the camera mechanism.

that was actually one theory with the RAZR. it has a "floating camera" or something like that.

i was just trying to add info to this thread because it's inevitable that someone will come on and search for this issue in the coming weeks/months, and the more info, the better.

whatever the little tiny rattle in my phone, i'm perfectly content with it now that i've been able to replicate it on at least one other device direct from VZW. (yes, i suppose it's possible that they both have problematic rattles, but i can't really make this my life's work. lol.)
