Fellow gnex'ers... Where can I buy the cheapest possible dumb phone ??

I need the cheapest VZW phone possible so that I can add a line to my plan and have the dumb phone activated. Would any CDMA phone work?? Which model or phone should I search for on eBay? Or is there a better way to get a cheap phone? Tia

Wocka wocka.. But I really need to find a cheap phone.. Verizon's dumb phones do not use sim cards, Amirite? So I'm going to have to bring this phone with me when I purchase the 3rd Line and gnex?

Ebay or Craigslist will probably be your best bet for super cheap. If you need one fast just look around for the best deal. We stopped into Best Buy and got one for $20.00 once just to use as a short term replacement.

I was able to pick up a functional old Nokia for $5 at a thrift store. Just make sure tht it is VZW and e911 compliant.

Gravy, pardon my stupidity but ... what are your plans? Why get a dumb phone to start a line? I'm only asking because the obvious answer seems to be eluding me and ... well ... maybe it's something that I want to look into myself.

My plans are to add a line and activate a dumb phone on that line so that it'll be only $10/month and I won't have to pay for data package. I will then purchase gnex on that new line and use it for my current line. I will then have 3 lines, including my wife's line, in rotation for upgrades.

I went and spoke to my VZW store and they told me that's what I needed to do in order to prevent paying full price for phone.

Wouldn't you not be eligible for an upgrade on that new line if you already start the contract with a phone on there?

I will be up for an upgrade because I'm buying a junk phone on eBay so I don't burn up my upgrade

Interesting, I did something kind of similiar when i got the Bionic. My parents contract expired on tmobile and i just brought them over to a verizon family plan. I gave my mom my Incredible and bought The Bionic on one of the new lines.

Similar.. I wasnt sure if it was going to work but thats exactly what the girls at my local store told me to do.. Hopefully all goes well... I just need to find a cheap phone now to have on release day.

Yeah I found a $14 flip phone on eBay and everything worked as planned. I actually went and bought a rezound today with the new line upgrade.

Nice. Are you saying that you got an upgrade automatically when you opened the new line? I may be confused but it looks like you're saying that when you opened the new line, that they automatically gave you an upgrade opportunity. Is that the case? I have an upgrade on my main ( and only ) line. Does this mean that if I do the same thing you did that I would have 2 upgrades available to me?

Correct... But I was already on a family plan with my wife so it was only 9.99 to add a line.

Exactly... I now have 3 lines in rotation for upgrades... Thankfully my wife uses dumb phones so she never uses her upgrades.

When I got the inc2 I added new line, with the inc2, switched it to an existing line and had the sales person just put one of my old phones that was still in my profile on the new line. Heck I can barley remember where that phone is....they don't mind switching phones around as long as they stay in the same family plan
