***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Interesting...

If you type in "nexus prime" in the verizon search bar, it takes you directly to the signup page.

If you type in "galaxy nexus", it takes you to a search results page with an ad bar for the galaxy nexus that you have to click to go to signup page.

Probably doesn't mean anything.

I do like Nexus Prime better than GN though, maybe just me.

Hi, everybody.

I just came back from Costco, having gone there just to talk to the VZW people. They (she) said that they definitely should have the Nexus on launch day. She also said... wait for it...

...that her manager was on a conference call today and when he got off he said the Nexus wouldn't be released until December. Let's hope for the 8th.

Now, I know that's not news to anybody following this thread (to the extent anyone can really keep up) but I thought I'd report it anyhow.

Regarding Rob's questions:

1. End of year is OK by me. I guess I'll just have to be patient and nursemaid my OG Droid until then.

2. I'm all for more open communication, even if they name a date and then come back and have to delay it because of problems.

3. In my dotage, I forgot question number 3.

Phandroid believes it will be Nexus Prime. That gives a lot of credability to the rumor as far as I am concerned.

Open communication is great, and I wish Verizon was a little more transparent. But I do agree that they shouldn't give a release date unless 100% sure it will release on that date.

While we follow these tid-bits of info religiously, there are many others who wouldn't know that a phone was delayed and try to show up at a store on launch day, only to find that it isn't there yet.

Trust me. You want pissed off customers, try missing dates. Much worse.

Opinion: In regards to the best buy/Prime deal... I manage the creation of catalogs for a handful of brands owned by one big international company. From our smallest niche book, to our 2 to 4000 page beasts, they are all developed well in advance of their scheduled mailing. Right now we start books a bare minimum of 5-6 months in advance depending on the size. Point being, I'm guessing this ad was created before the Galaxy Nexus name was settled on. We usually start sending pages to print 1 to 2 months in advance, in phases. So the timing in this situation could work out for this theory.

Although, i'm all for the Nexus Prime name :)

Indeed the timing could line up with that theory. I don't remember for sure, but it seems like we didn't know it would be called Galaxy Nexus until the 10/19 event in Hong Kong. I too am all in for the Nexus Prime nomenclature, but I just don't know what to believe anymore. The Phandroid article clearly does say, "The Verizon Galaxy Nexus will officially be dubbed the Nexus Prime." so I guess only time will tell.

So what else is new?

Bestbuy always charges more off contract than verizon afaik

Cool I knew that. I missed where the $799 was BB'S price. Thnx! I left VZW for a while then I came back just in time to get unlimited data.

So that means I have only been with.VZW for six months. I wish I could get my upgrade date moved up lol.

Here's a possibility: Google announces the Galaxy Nexus, and it debuts as such in the UK. Might the marketeers have decided to call the as yet un released US version the Galaxy Prime? Perhaps in the US, the Prime is 32 GB storage, and the GNex is 16 GB storage?

Probably not, but who knows. This whole launch, or lack thereof, has been pretty poorly handled. Nearly anything seems possible.
