***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Morning Sexy Nexies, thinking about going the "Import" route. Has anyone ever used exansys-usa.com. They say they have it in stock, and the price is pretty spendy, but Verizon launching a month after has left a bad taste in my mouth. If I buy it T-Mobile, I can make up the cost in the cost of the service plan.

Other than Verizon's network being better, what's a good reason not to do this?

Well LTE is much faster than HSPA+ and it'll have a bigger battery. Just hold out a couple more weeks with the rest of us, or rent a rezound. You'll have THE fastest phone in all areas.

Its already been reviewed that it isnt very good. Ive seen the camera photos and videos and they are not as good as the GS2 and others. I really think Samsung just did it to cut costs. Idk like you said its been discussed already watevs

Unfortunately, camera tests/comparisons are perhaps open to the most subjective testing possible. I am not implying that it is done, but by changing a setting or two, you can easily make one camera the winner in a comparison test, and make the other look like crap.

For example, take these two comparisons

In The Verge, the low light from the GNex looks brighter, and more true to color than the iPhone.

In the CNET review here, the low light looks horrific on the GNex compared to the iPhone.

I think the biggest variable in low light pictures is that the Galaxy Nexus does not have a backlit sensor like the iPhone 4/4S does.

Good morning G'nexers! I will start your morning off with some even better news.

Paul (at MoDaCo) has figured out USB mounting on the device. I will post details when he updates, but screenshots are below. Yes, the second one he has a wireless mouse connected to the device!!

As a follow up to my post it seems that USB host support requires a custom kernel.

All info will be in this thread from Paul for those who want to follow along: [MOD] 23 Nov: MoDaCo Custom Kernel (+CIFS +USB drives / keyboard / mouse) - xda-developers

Good morning all! I think this is the first time I've only had one page to read from going to sleep to when I wake up! I hope no one minds if I repost something I put up last night, it got trapped at the end of a page:

I've seen Samsung Galaxy S owners all over the map - GPS sucks - no you suck, GPS is great (infraction for name calling) - etc etc etc.

And note well - when you get your Gnex, test the GPS even if you're not a big GPS user. It was my first indication that my new HTC phone was in trouble - turns out my GPS and 3G radios were both hosed.
I dunno, I think we'll see improved GPS simply by virtue of the fact that Google designed the phone and chose the parts. Engadget's Behind the Glass piece details each sensor inside the Nexus; what brand they are, etc. Both the geomagnetic sensor and the barometer are listed as being new, never before used in smartphones. Does anyone have similar listings for previous Samsung phones to cross-check with the Nexus technology?

over 1 million views in this thread, thats got to be a record for this forum

Nope. Inc thread has nearly 3x that. (Rremember, it's been closed since mid 2010, but still got lots of views beyond closing day. This thread may top it in the end, who knows).

But this is #2 in both views and replies and will be #1 most replied to by the end of the day, or tomorrow.

I wonder how many views and posts we'll get today and tomorrow with so many people traveling and being with family? And not having a Nexus... :(

The 4S takes some good looking pictures.

I've seen Nexus shots on other websites that look a lot better than the Nexus shots on that website. I don't know what that means, but I am hoping the Nexus camera is better than some of those pictures.

In this day and age we wait (impatiently) for phones to be released. 5 years ago, we bought whatever was available at the time and nobody knew phones by their name. Funny how times change in the mobile world.

I would guess that is still true for most in the world. However, I think many people following this thread have been phone geeks for some time always looking for the latest/greatest. If they haven't been, they are now.

Folks worried about Software Updates from Google, (and I'm one of them) I have a question.......

Do the T-Mobile and Sprint versions of the Nexus S have any carrier installed apps? I thought I remember reading that the Sprint version had a few?

If so, how are their updates handled? I don't remember reading any complaints from those guys as far as software updates.

When you do so much more today than just talk and text on your phone, it's much more important to get technology that fits your needs/desires than it was 5 years ago when smartphones weren't nearly as smart.
