curious as to exactly how much the different processor is really noticed. this is essentially the only thing keeping me from making the switch. i don't need an hd screen as the one with my sgsII is crazy awesome.

I've been watching everything I can find about the SGSII Skyrocket for the last week (I really want it, or the SGSII). I found it VERY odd that even Samsung did NOT list the type of processor in this new phone...their website doesn't list it anywhere I could find. That fact, and everyone speculating that it would have the Snapdragon processors and then bashing on it made me pretty skeptical. Needless to say, I've been anxiously awaiting for actual hands-on reviews and benchmark tests.

The link here is the first benchmark eval I've found. Most of the reviews have been generally favorable and at least more-or-less equivalent to the original SGS2. The bench-marking in the video below shows fairly equivalent results to the SGS2 for the Skyrocket. Anyway, thought I'd share and let people evaluate.

I would enjoy hearing from those of you who have used an SGS II, then switched to a Skyrocket.

I've read the reviews, and now would like to hear from real world users.

I don't care about 4G/LTE, so let's ignore that difference.

I'm mainly interested in the user experience between the two phones.

What (other than size) do you notice about the displays?

Overall smoothness, keyboard response, SWYPE functionality, etc.

My personal preference is the Skyrocket for it's larger display. Other than that if the rest of it is as good as an SGS II, I'm probably going to choose the Skyrocket.

Any and all feedback, comments, pros and cons between the two will be greatly appreciated.

i went from ogs2 to sr. i actually prefer the ogs2 as i mentioned numerous times in different threads... i'm not in LTE network area, so i can't even use it. I noticed much much lower battery life, but much higher internet speeds in the same area. I used to get 1.3mbps in my room on ogs2 but on sr, i get about 2mbps. the bigger screen actually makes the screen quality lower and i realized that because i have relatively small hands, it makes it harder to reach the opposite ends of the screen without touching the screen with my palm. BUT it's $50 cheaper, and you could live with other fall backs, except the battery. I guess i'm a heavy user compared to some other pp on this forum, but i barely use it the way i want and i get about 8hours of battery while i used to get about a day on ogs2. so it's upto you. the overall smoothness and keyboard response is better on sr also

All I notice is that the skyrocket has bigger screen, blazin LTE and the wifi signal is MUCH stronger than the s2 I had. Oh and it has visual voicemail. Battery the same.

I feel 'taken in' by Rogers. I wanted the original S2 but I got the skyrocket. From what it seems, it seems its basically on par with the original? But still I think Rogers retailers should tell people its a skyrocket and has a different screen size and or processor.

Big middle finger to you Rogers. But I still love the phone

I had both...I think my ogSG2 had better battery life and *some* smoother performance with email but other than that the SR is the one to buy. Future proof w/ LTE and ICS coming early next year.

Just curious. The thought has crossed my mind.

The Skyrocket is great but I dont know if I can live with the screen lines and poor audio quality.

The reviews on the Nitro are coming in and they are awesome.

The specs of the Nitro are undeniable, but I don't know if I can trust LG with a handset. I haven't had good experiences with them in the past.

Plus how is their update track record?

Reviews state they seriously stepped it up this time.

Updates...they are not any worse than ssmsung lol

I read all the back and forth about the comparisons between the orig galaxy s2 and the skyrocket. Supposedly, the processor isn't as good hitting the speed... but the 4g is faster. Also, the battery issues. First the battery:

I had the iphone, then galaxy s2, then skyrocket.
The galaxy s2 drained very fast and recharged incredibly slowly.

The skyrocket is immeasurably better. It holds a charge all day unless I am on all day. It recharges relatively fast although not as fast as the iphone. Not much worse though. With the Galaxy 2, it would just tread water if plugged into the car...not gaining percentage. It would take hours to charge, even on a wall jack.

Now for processor speed. I see NO difference in speed of processing. Everything works smoothly and fast.

Now for Internet. we have good 4G coverage where I am. It is BLAZING. I leave my wifi off because it is just as fast. It is a dramatic difference. It is so worth the change to the skyrocket for the 4G. I didn't think I would care about speed but once you have it. Now it has left my iphone 4 in the dust.

I hated siri. all a bunch of fluff. Didn't work well enough to be reliable. Gave you results that you often had to read which doesn't help when driving. The one thing I LOVED was being able to push the button and say the person's name last/first and mobile/home and getting it to dial accurately every time. Siri screwed that up because it has to go to the network.

I'm afraid the android doesn't have a good voice dialer. I have tried jeannie and vlingo and others and it isn't reliable. Also, there is no hard button to hit so it is distracting. I have put some shortcuts on my screen for freq numbers. Other than that, I love the phone.

got a GREAT holder on amazon, cellet, that holds itself up by plugging into lighter. Has a good gooseneck. No dash, no windshield, no vent for me. Cost all of 12 dollars on amazon. amazing.

I think that this parallels my experience. Regarding the battery, its discharge is not proportional throughout the day. The battery is down to 80% relatively quickly but then it drains rather slowly. Without heavy use, the battery is usually at about 25 - 30% at the end of the day, which is not bad. The battery recharges must faster than in other phones that I have. It usually requires something like 2.5 - 3 hours to recharge, which is more than OK with phones like these.

Now, I typically run JuiceDefender at the balanced mode (and I think this helps). For days that I anticipate heavy use, I utilize the Powerskin for Skyrocket. This essentially doubles the battery time. It is not cheap, but it is quite effective in days when heavy use is anticipated.

For a voice dialer and full voice command, I am afraid that we would have to wait for ICS for Skyrocket. Supposedly, this a solid feature in ICS. My guess is that ICS would be available for the Skyrocket sometime in the spring of 2012.

I agree, LG has definitely pulled of the unexpected and put out a very very impressive phone that can stand with the big kids like the Galaxy SII or the Motorola RAZR.

Like I said on the Nitro forum, I'm giving LG a chance here and am going to get this phone.

Re: charging speed. I noticed that the square plug adapter got pretty warm, so they must have ramped up amps for faster chrarges.

Trust me when I say this.......Samsung is no better when it comes to updates. If I had to choose between these two LG would be my choice because its not made out of plastic.
