Help!? Should I buy a HP Touch pad.

Thinking of buying one of these for $299 instead of the flytouch 3 It has a much faster processor I am just wondering what the cons are if any of having this alpha custom rom. I hear toms for flytouch is great but im not sure on this HP. My question is whats the performance like? what are the features like? all android apps usable? and what tablet would you recommend out of the two or even is there any other tablet you would recomend? I'm getting most of my prices from ebay.com.au (Would prefer to buy in australia and not wait months to get it) it's an extra $100 dollars or more considering flytouch comes with a keyboard and leather case. Any advice is greatly apprechiated

It's a great tablet if you like to tweak and there will be lots of roms to choose from:

CM7.1 (current)
CM9 (ICS in a few months)
MIUI
other variations of CM.

For US prices: $299 is a bit high tho unless it's a package. You should be able to find a 32 gb one for $250.

Right now the most common problem is wifi... for some people it's causing problem.

Some people complain that not all apps are available for it in Market yet, but that might be b/c it's new. For me, if I can't find it in Market, I can find it in Amazon's Marketplace.

Us would lead to big postage costs.

Apps I can download online and just use astro to install
Wifi might be an issue. Don't have to have it but for $300
I would want it.

As long as I could at least get most games to work and read office docs at the least id be happy with it.

There are several devs interested in working porting it, but nothing close to downloadable yet.

I said some people were having issues with wifi. It works great for me, but I did have issues until I noticed my date needed to be set after updating. After I installed an app to set my time, no issues.

This is my first tablet and "android device". I just got mine this weekend for 225, including touchstone and case. I haven't had much problems so far. Wifi works great (my network is wifi b/g- I 've heard of ppl having probs with wifi n networks). All apps ive tried work great. The only problem so far was getting my music to play through headphones only- it plays but wouldn't disable the regular speakers.

I totally recommend it. You just have to remember that you're not buying an official android device. The mods is still in alpha stage and everything isn't working yet.

I'm on Leoisright's Xron (3.3) tweaked CM 7.1.
Showed it to an Ipad 2 owner friend and he went a bit green!
OC'd to 1.782 and getting quadrant score of 3474.
Unbelievable.

Do you have a link for this ROM? I didn't know anything other than CM7 was available. I also hadn't really looked, though

Crazy enough, I got it on ebay. I just got lucky I think. Bidding ended around midday.. mayb everyone was at lunch. It wasn't brand new but in like new mint condition w/box and all accessories . I had been trying to get one on craigslist anddecided to jump on ebay and give it a try. 225 shipped was a steal compared to the average selling price lately
