Root [TUTORIAL]Simple Gingerbread .602 SBF and Root Process (Updated 9.9.11)

I did the SBF steps and have fully rebooted my phone. When I go to run "Motorolaoneclickroot" i get the error message "you are missing the ADB.EXE which was packaged with this program. Make sure to extract all files with this one root program."

I have extracted all the files from the link and clearly see the for mentioned EXE file in the list. Not sure why this is happening.

Any suggestions?

Try running it as administrator... I've never seen that error before but maybe by right clicking on the file and running as administrator might help... if not delete it all off your computer and then re-download it and try again... make sure you are running this on your computer too btw... had someone that tried to run the rooter on the phone... that won't work :)

I rooted my X, which I believe worked correctly. Now I'm trying to install a custom ROM; I get to Reboot Recovery, select it, then get to the menu list. I can scroll up & down, but I can't select any of the options (like "wipe data/factory reset"). The directions say to use the camera button to select, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I think I might have a hardware problem...

I SBF'd again, then rooted again - both seemed to work just fine. I re-installed Droid 2 Bootstrapper, and when I get to "Reboot Recovery," the phone reboots & brings up the menu with 8 options, so I think I'm in the right place. I can scroll through the options, but the camera button doesn't work to select anything.

With that said, after I SBF'd, but before I rooted, I tried to take a picture with the hard button; it didn't work. The on-screen button worked, but the physical button didn't do anything, which leads me to believe that I may have a hardware problem. Guess I might be S.O.L....

I was thinking of waiting for a while before getting a new phone, but this might have pushed me one step closer to a Galaxy Nexus!

Definetly sounds like you have a hardware problem. I would sbf to stock... call verizon and get a replacement phone.... just sbf and then reboot to stock recovery and wipe data/factory reset from there (power button can be used to select in stock recovery). Then send it in.

I rooted awhile back, how do I tell whether I have .602 or .596? I assume it's .596 and still froyo? But I can't remember.. I know I used Z4root and I think I remember CyanogenMod7

Also, best way to back-up the phone is nandroid and backup assistant should still work. I never added a ROM, just rooted.

Thanks

Sounds like you are on froyo if you are using Z4root to root and then install the (froyo) CM7. I recommend using Rom manager to backup your ROM. Follow my guide to sbf to Gingerbread and then install the new CM7 based on the GB kernel, or heck go to Miui... I love it. (some people don't since it looks a little like an iphone.)

I followed all of the directions to the T, and have gotten to the point where I start the SBF process through RSD Lite. The status is finished and the result is "pass."

My main concern is that the guide tells me that when this SBF process is finished, the phone will power off and back on. It has not done this. It is stuck in the Bootloader. On the phone screen, it says:

Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB

What should I do?
