Hi there fellow Note owners.

Did you notice when the boom started about net books? So many silly people bought one only to moan about the 9" or 10" monitor? Hello its a net book. If they wanted a 13" or 14" buy a lap top! It's not exactly rocket science to SEE the difference

Have you seen a similar stupid reaction regarding the note? The note is not advertised as a mobile phone nor a tablet, it says in all the lit' it has a 5" screen so why on earth do people go and buy one then moan about it being either to big or too small? It beggars all belief that people have

There is no question that the GNote is not for everyone.
Too big for a phone? what defines too big? as long as it can receive calls, and is portable enough to be a 24x7 device, its fine as a phone. It wasn't long ago when 4.3 inch screens were ' too big.'

Will it be a success? We will see. It definitely has a niche/market. I get approached regularly by strangers asking where I got it and how much it is. As people have started to use their phones less and less for phone calls, the benefits of a large touchscreen can't be denied.

It's kinda silly to compare the Note to the netbook.

The Galaxy Note specs are comparable or better than the current gen of smartphones.

Meanwhile, the netbook was under-powered big time and pretty much useless for most people. It was actually great for little kids at that time due to the low cost and takes up little to no space. But high-school and beyond it's useless.

Galaxy Note has a better camera than the Galaxy Nexus.

Galaxy Note has better battery than Galaxy S2 and Infuse 4G.

Galaxy Note's GPS is better than any GPS out there. Definitely better than any of the previous phones that I've used (which includes iPhone 3GS, Infuse 4G and Galaxy S2)

Also... the stylus opens up some creative stuff for certain people. I've been using it to draw pictures and jot down short messages and sending them to people. It's actually fun.

The big screen is GREAT for people who don't want to squint all the time using their iPhones or other smaller phones. I am one of them.

Samsung did a great job with the weight and size. It's light as other phones out there and it's thin enough to fit into my pockets comfortably.

As a consumer, I feel super spoiled by this Galaxy Note. It gives people another option if they want something DIFFERENT than a regular smartphone but still gives you great, if not better specs than most smartphones.

I wasn't comparing a note to a net book. I was using this as an example of how people always seem to moan about things being either too big or too small. I agree the Galaxy note is not to be compared with a net book.

I also agree with your other comments. The Note is great for some. I again only desire to question how large this market will be? The S11 has sold millions and is still selling well.

There are many applications from both Android and Samsung that I can't run on the Note but can on the S11. I hope this changes given time. It is a shame to have such a large screen that has so few applications in terms of games available to make full use of it. I fear some application designers may not bother with the note as its selling in such small quantities compared with the S11? This is purely assumption though.

Having owned the Note for some time now I am going to be one of those who is hardly going to use it. It will be a gadget that will collect dust.
I have not one single problem with the Note as it stands. It is what it is and sells on those points.

For every day 'grab and use' its too big. Driving the car it sticks in my groin and hinders the lap part of a seat belt, riding my bike its just too big. The S11 comes with me in my pocket, driving a car or riding a bike etc.

I don't want to appear in any way bad mouthing the Note, its all about use and I am certain for some the Note will be just the ticket. For 'regular' users of mobiles it is simply too big for that use. This is odd as it doesn't claim to be a mobile phone but a 'phablet'? Its a new generation of device and I have one. BTW I also bought the Samsung galaxy 7.7 tablet and hardly ever use that? No pleasing some folk is there? lol

I still maintain the S11 is smoother to operate, faster and with zero lag. The note is a great device for those who need a mobile from this niche market, it appears I don't.

BTW do not buy the Folix screen protectors. They are too big and need returning to the vendor.

Does any member know if Samsung will be introducing a mesh type back cover similar to the ones available for the S11?

Kindest regards to one and all.

Hi there,

Your post is fascinating. I agree with you. Have you ever thought how odd this is though? We are now carrying mobile phones that we use more for 'other' things?
I have never wanted a camera with my mobile. Now some have 8 or even 10MP on the way?

The very odd thing is we are debating mobile phones and the best I have owned have been just that and made by Nokia. the signal strength and quality of call was truly great on my Nokias of the past. I then went windows and HTC, great for Windows etc but as a mobile phone the modles I owned where awful with signal strength thus what was the real value of them?

I bought the iPod nano 5th generation as I wanted to go all Apple at the time. BIG booboo. The only thing the iPod Nano doesn't do well is reproduce music! It has a video camera and makes coffee but it is rather poor at playing music. The Zen is simpler, less expensive and in terms of reproducing sound does a better job.

What is it we are looking for these days in our mobiles? What is coming next?

For me the best mobile device I have purchased and I have purchased rather a lot, is the S11, good sound reproduction, decent storage, rapid. Again the only slight problem is the lack of signal strength when compared with the old Nokias. I live way out so signal strength is important and the Nokias would struggle but the rest have been no hopers thus the need for a land line.

As consumers are we losing focus on what a mobile phone is? I read reviews now where phone Z gets higher marks for a better camera than phone A that has a better call quality? I mean are we going to see cameras soon that can make a phone call or download apps? Where are we going with all this modern day techno. I love the stuff but .....

Thanks for your reply.

I think if you didn't have another phone you would end up being accustomed to the Note's size, but that is just my opinion. If I end up being able to get one I'll be selling whatever phone I have to pay for it, so I'll be sure that I end up using it for all of my typical uses.

I see you are an Apple fan. I hope my above post has not offended you? Just to mention I also own the iMac 27" plus an Apple mac note book etc etc. Sold the iPhone though also the IPod. Off topic but did you know Apple next year is launching a TV? The monitor will be made by Sharp? Back on topic.

I go back to when a mobile phone was as large as two house bricks, battery pack and hand set! lol I have owned some mobiles that one could use for weight training. BTW they also cost a bloomin fortune in those days..The mid 80's (jeez that dates me!)

I think for me carrying around the Note will not be practical, that is NO FAULT of the product though. I bought one knowing what I was buying, living with it over some time however has proved the note to be... how shall we say.... not realy pocket friendly? Its not as portable as I need, I bike, run and do all sorts of things where I need to just grab my phone and leave.
I can't get the note into my jeans pocket. I would break the screen and sitting down it can sometimes be a reminder one has a rather large erm phone in ones pocket. I also panic when my grandson lands on my lap for fear he will break the phone and either cut me or himself

To be honest I have a duo sim card so I have one in the note and one in the S11, if this wasn't possible and I had to change sim cards every time I wanted to use one of them the note would lose out to the S11.:(

Nice to chat.

I have the opposite experience. After using the Note for a few minutes and then moving to my daughter's Galaxy R (better specs than Galaxy S except LCD screen), I experience the feeling that I get when I move from my PC to another which is three years old, or from looking at a new monitor and then at a five-year old monitor.

It is a world of difference. The 4" inch screen and the small number of app icons on the Galaxy R make it look look like a gimmicky toy. It becomes more obvious when I browse the Internet. Perhaps it's the LCD (not OLED) on the Galaxy R that is causing the effect. I don't really know.

The major deficiency I am facing with the Note is the battery. It can't last a 10-hour work day.
