***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Hi Gnexers! :)

I'm back from Real Life, wherein I stopped by Radio Shack for something. Their marquis sign read "$100 off Verizon smartphones" so I inquired about it. Turns out that promo INCLUDES Nexus! :D

That may help some folks out here who are tight for cash but still want to play Nexus with us!

So when Nexus hits the streets, there's a choice to be made:

Do I get a Launch Day phone with $50 loyalty discount? Or...
Do I wait till the Shack gets them and get $100 off?

Decisions, decisions...

9-1/2 days to go!

Haven't you waited long enough?

what i find funny about this is that i actually am in the process of clarifying some information that was sent to me which is similar to what you are referring to....the kicker is that.....my actual name is Steven also lol

Holy crap, you're Steven also? Which version? Wait a minute....are you that Steven59 who keeps messing up the page formatting?

This was posted by @PydePypper earlier today regarding the Gnex launch:

Its kinda been my thinking all along without getting a specific date. ive said mny tmes12/5 wk preOrd, wk of 12/12 release

This guy runs in the same circle as P3 and they were tweeting each other last week about getting new release date info from their sources whom they both seem to share so take it FWIW.

He also tweeted this:

And with the delays who knows at this point anymore. Could be any time is all we can hope for

Seems like everyone really is in the dark as to the true release date. As others have said, sources report what they believe is true at that point and time.

Lets just suppose (I know, I know) that Verizon has announced the release and pre-order dates.

1) Do we really believe we would have less angst. I bet not - but rather the opposite. You will then have a date in mind when your new phone will be in your hands.

2) The date of when it would be in your hands will spill into another 5000 posts. Can I get it a day early if I preorder? Will you chase down the UPS truck if one passes you on the way home? Will they deliver to work so I am sure I will be there? and on and on.

3) What is the must have app list?

4) Root or not to Root
i
5) Etc, Etc, Etc. etc.

The angst for the day of delivery will be greater than anyting we now have. I believe, and am somewhat basing this on the Dinc thread, this thread will blow up for a while.

Last questions - What happened to those who a) had a friend who saw boxes in the stores, b) those stalking outside stores watching what comes off delivery trucks, c) those who had "Sources" with info, or d) those with sisters in the know - scratch d) as I know what happened here.:)

Anyway - So many questions

All that is going to happen whenever the phone is released, but a confirmed date would make waiting easier,in my opinion.

well, i was completely let down :-(...just got clarification, i'll just enter the entire email chain below so that all of you can see the previous e-mail correspondence as well so it all makes sense :

CSR: test

Me: got the test email. thanks for helping us out tonight with the red Droid Inc 2, :)

CSR: Very welcome :)! week of christmas eve is the expected launch time for the Nexus!

Me: oh god i hope it comes sooner than that lol

Me: also i was curious where that "christmas eve week" timeframe came from, is that official from verizon? or a manager? thanks again for any info and help you give me :)

CSR: I had a training for the phone and at the end it said "available the week of 12-16" so verizon said it lol

Me: oh well that sounds pretty official lol, did you get to play with the phone when you were training?

CSR: haha pretty official, It was an online training.. Its going to be pretty sick, im pumped :D

Me: oh god me too, theres nothing bad at all about that phone great screen great power, great camera, great everything, not to mention amazing software. cant wait

CSR: its the little things in life lol, its going to be crazy in here launch day

Me: i can only imagine, hopefully its on wednesday thursday or friday (i know typically its on thursdays) because i work from home wed. and fri. and have off thursdays, otherwise i'm at work all the way up north in somerset.

CSR: busy guy! i have a feeling there going to do pre-orders online. you probably wont even need to make a trip into a store!

Me: thats a good point, if you find out anything regarding a preorder let me know ! :)

CSR: okay will do :)

Me: hey, i'm actually hearing rumors of a possible pre-order starting tomorrow (11/29) do you think thats at all possible?

CSR: thats the word on the street....

Me: word on the street/forums or word inside verizon? lol

CSR: street/forums.. as far as im concerned its still the week of the 15th

Well, i tried guys and gals. You may notice that in earlier conversation she mentioned week of 12/16 was mentioned in her training which sounded weird because that's like saying "week of Friday the 16th" which usually wouldn't make sense, but then in the most recent reply she says week of the 15th (15th being Thursday) so lets still continue hoping that this is incorrect and just take it FWIW.

Seems like everyone really is in the dark as to the true release date. As others have said, sources report what they believe is true at that point and time.

It also kind of feels like whomever is handling the release is throwing different dates and "reasons" internally as to spread misinformation to cloud the real date. That may sound "tinfoil" hat-like but you never know....

A verizon csr told me today that they don't have a specific date yet but have been told it will be released for sure in Dec.and she also told me that with what she has been told, she feels it will be released in the next two weeks. She also said the thing about people who are grandfathered in losing unlimited data is completely false. This is the first time I called that they even acknowleged the phone.

The really confusing part is that she says Christmas Eve, then in the next sentence she says the 16th  Isn't Christmas Eve usually on the 24th?

Thanks for doing what you could!

she may just have mistaken the week of 15/16th to be the beginning of the eve week when in fact the beginning of the Christmas eve week would be the 18th/19th

I also just asked my source the same thing regarding price and memory capacity, lets hope for answers that match from our sources :D

Also FWIW I texted the guy I talk to at Verizon asking what his source is for the $199.99 price tag, and what the phones memory was going to be.

Lets see if he fails the test.

Don't want to sound like i'm begging or anything but if any of you have an extra "source" I would really appreciate it if you gave it to me. I've wanted one for so long, but just can't seem to find where to get them. I would pay for the shipping of course...

another thing i just noticed when i was posting the e-mail conversation. this whole time that she said "12-16" myself and a few others were thinking week of December 16th, which doesn't seem to make sense because 16th is a friday and saying week of friday doesn't make sense, but i just realized she said "12-16" that could mean the week from the 12th to the 16th, which is monday - friday.
