***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

You talking about the leaked maps that we don't even know are real?

I'm referring to the leaked maps that have coincided perfectly with the release of other devices. You can question their validity all you want but the Razr and Rezound both seemed to come out when everyone expected, didn't they? I don't think we were all just taking wild guesses and got lucky.

And Matias Duarte went on the verge and said that while he didn't want to steal Verizon's thunder and announce a date, it would come out in November. Later, Samsung came out and said that it would come out in December. I don't know about you, but that sounds like a delay to me.

I think it's safe to say that Verizon isn't even sure when the testing will be done and the phone will be released. I'm sure those dates from our sources were legitimate target dates that just didn't get met, as is probably the case with the 8th. A long as it's out before Jan 15th so I can dump this razr back in their lap I'll be happy lol

Face it. I hate to say it but

WE
GOT
Thunderbolted / Bioniced / iPhone 5ed :(

There HAS got to be a major problem with this phone. Think about it. If the phone was ready to go, it would be released. The problem could be from vzw trying to stuff their software onto the phone or some other issue. Could it be vzw is trying to push more razrs? Doubt it, the Droid 4 is coming out along with a slider style razr. They released the rezound (albeit quitly) shortly after the razr. Perhaps they know the razr would be more seductive then the rezound. Perhaps they ARE holding the Gnex up to try to get more razr sales (perhaps they need to meet a quota with moto) but I really don't see it.

I think an issue came up (think thunderbolt / bionic) and they swept the gnex under the rug for a fix.

Perhaps its the technology that can't keep up with US rather then us trying to keep up with the tech.

If there is not a major issue with the phones hardware, then it is verizon trying to stuff the bloat onto the phones....

While I am ranting, I dont understand why the iphones don't have this vzw bloat / navigator installed and us android users are forced to deal with this junk. My Xoom did not have bloat in it (well two games, cordy and dungon something).

With this being said why is verizon not saying anything along with everyone else? Probably because its a legal issue. I SERIOUSLY doubt verizon is hanging onto the phones just to tick us off. They know we want the gnex and want it bad. I think vzw is just stuck between a rock and a hard place. They cant say NOTHING for legal issues.

CSRs don't know because they don't know. I don't see much sense in talking or hounding the reps.

I think its time to just sit back and relax. Time to stop tossing "leaked" dates out there. Time to stop calling vzw and hounding their facebook / twitter / email accounts. Has it done any good so far? No

If the Gnex is not ready, well then pestering everyone will not get the phones ready faster. Did verizon or HTC or Moto say why the thunderbolt / bionic was delayed? I suspect they did NOT. And I suspect this is the case here.

I know some here have phones on their last legs and are waiting for the Gnex. Some of us want to upgrade (me) and some just want something new that will last two years (me too!).

Last year I broke my OG droid. I heard the Tbolt was coming out and ended up settling for my DX (though its not a bad phone) because the Tbolt even made it to best buys ad! But no phone and same situation as here with the Gnex.

Im getting tired and have started to ramble so I hope this post makes some sense.

Please understand, I am not calling anyone out. Not trying to be wet blanket or anything. Just typing to get things off my mind :)

It's not just Verizon btw guys. Video Games do this all the time (though they actually blow release dates, which Verizon has not). Also, I work in the computer hardware industry and we announced a motherboard to come out "soon" and it took like 3 months. In our case, it was due to one team telling us it was ready, then Q&A discovered serious bugs and we simply will not release unless it's ready. As long as the phone comes out before the end of the year, I won't hate on VZW that much. By the way I am the community guy there and get hit HARD with stuff like this. Let's give the CSRs a break. They don't make policy.

I imagine its a bit different with games, as they are probably more subject to change later in the development process, given that they need to function as well as any other piece of technology, but also be designed with much more artistry. Not only do they have to be intuitive for a person to interface with, but every aspect has to be carefully crafted and balanced for all the mechanics to work and for the narrative to be compelling. Dev's also may be more inclined to delay because its not just about business for them, its about artistic satisfaction. As you may have noticed, this is something I am quite passionate about. Probably mostly irrelevant, but hopefully someone finds it interesting.

Actually, a lot of games come out when they are supposed to, despite bugs, and then they are patched with updates. Many game publishers have no problem releasing unfinished games even when the devs ask for more time.

Now that you got me comparing companies like valve to verizon, the big red does not seem bad at all. This GNex is nothing, I've been waiting 5 years for hl2 ep3. It all seems so much better when you think that every day it is delayed, what you get come launch day will be improved by that much.

What you're failing to understand is that we are a minute part of their customerbase. The people reading this thread are by far the exception.

Again your pointing anger at Verizon for what? Not dancing to our schedule or song? I would love to have the phone as much as anyone but twitter-bombing Verizon isn't getting it here faster.

I was about to say exactly this, glad I scrolled down before replying. We really are insignificant compared to their entire customer base. When you're talking in this forum its easy to think that Verizon is insane because SO many people want the Nexus, but honestly, they could drop the phone entirely, lose all of us as customers, and not care. At all.

It's unfortunate but it's true.

So...some people bought into a rumor based on very questionable sources, and now they are surprised/angry the rumor didn't pan out (even threatening to switch carriers and cursing Verizon for not living up to a date they didn't even officially announce)? I mean I was kind of hopeful myself but I think we need to face reality here. It was a rumor based on no evidence and with no credible corroboration. We need to just lick our wounds and continue waiting.

Now I do think we'll hear something this week in terms of an announcement but that's just based on a gut feeling. I think when this phone does finally come out, we'll most certain hear about it loud and clear (not with a whimper).

So lesson of the day: Don't always believe what you read. ;) Just my take.

Someone posted earlier that BestBuy took down "Nexus Prime" from the catalog and someone else replied to that post saying that it's still there but I can't seem to find it :(
I tried searching "Nexus Prime" and "Galaxy Nexus" with no luck... sorry if this is a repost but can someone clarify that for me?

I'm guessing either BestBuy took it down to correct their mistake as labeling it as "Nexus Prime" or Verizon asked them to remove it since they have yet to announce a release date for it. Anyone have any other ideas?
