***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

It's a small sampling of VZW's overall market/customer base, but there sure are a lot of people caving lately...That's precisely what VZW wants, I'm sure. :(

Unfortunately, the overall demand for the phone is not nearly as high as we here like to think. Probably a good percentage of the people interested in the prime are right here in this thread.

They don't care what phone you buy just as long as you stay a customer or they take customers away from the competition. Keeping you as a customer is what they want but delaying a phone release to 'force' someone to pick a different phone is tom-foolery

I think it comes down to where the bugs are. Rumors are the bugs are in MyVerizon.apk. Verizon cares deeply about this app, and if it isn't working, are going to hold it until it does.
Sigh. Particularly disappointing since I'll be rooting and getting rid of My Verizon almost immediately..

Some more from him or retweet by him.

@blurlessX Good info as that is about the word I've heard for the past month+. IE preOrder wk of 12/5 and nothing shipping prior to 12/12

@bgill55 GN preorder is in the first week if December for a December 15 ship date.

@bgill55 @blurlessX I'd agree as its the same thing I've been saying for awhile now already just not with specific dates stated is all

Actually 12/15 release date will save me quite a bit of $, since I'll be back east and can go to a Delaware VZW and buy it without the tax (against the full retail price). I'd much rather spend the extra $50-60 and have it 12/8, but I wouldn't be too disappointed with 12/15.

Transformer Prime isn't the name of a character, but I bet Hasbro could have made a case out of that if they wanted to. I'm guessing Asus paid Hasbro. Maybe Samsung decided it was better to just change the name rather than pay for using "Nexus Prime." Or, maybe the name was changed for another reason entirely. Who knows?

Off topic, but related, anyone know how much Verizon is paying Lucas to use "Droid?"

Hey Guys! We now have live IRC Android Forums chat! The address is irc.freenode.net and the channel is #Androidforums

I use the icechat client available at IceChat IRC Client :: IRC Client Extra-Ordinaire :: The Chat Cool People Use but anyone will do. There's an easy web way: freenode Web IRC (qwebirc) Type in a name and then #Androidforums for the channel and you're in!

People still use IRC. I am amazed. Do nick registrations expire? I don't know if I'll even remember all the servers and rooms I used to help run... I guess sometimes the old tech is the best tech. Maybe I don't even need the Nexus! Maybe I can make my Droid last forever!

I really hope after this is all said and done, someone does some bridge burning and tells the real story of why the phone was delayed.

ooh, me too. I might even pay a couple dollars, if it's told with some Star Wars themed allegory layered on top of it.

... It obviously has to be released sometime in the next 90 days. If everyone predicts everyone of those 90 days, someone is bound to be right.

Let's start a pool! That's probably not allowed on this site, is it... nevermind.

Want to talk about something else? I worked on the TI audio codec of the Galaxy Nexus that normally gets paired with OMAP4..

Behind the glass: a detailed tour inside the Samsung Galaxy Nexus -- Engadget

Yeah, it's my baby. Maybe that's why I want the phone so badly. Or when the whole "volume control" issue veered it's ugly head, I was expecting a call. Happy they solved it with software.

Codec is a weird word, seems like it's a piece of hardware, in this context, but I always thought of it as the software. Someone teach me the difference, I'm too lazy to google today.

Did they ever include gapless playback for MP3s in the audio capabilities built into android? I know it works for OGGs, but the gaps always bothered me on my live recordings and some of my albums... but I didn't want to re-encode half my library to OGG.

That's not what I meant. I meant they want to sell you a device, ANY device. And if people here give up on the SGN, that's all the sooner they get a new 2 year contract started.

I just want to say how happy I am with the atmosphere around here, today. Additionally, I want to thank the folks for being so kind in response to my post. One of the folks who PM'd me yesterday, Pm'd me today to apologize, not knowing I was on the way to the hospital. I appreciated that. I'm so proud and fond of EVEryone here. :)

You all rock! Let's move forward as friends. :)

I'll provide the winner with a free round-trip airfare ticket
winner must pick up prize in person and be able to tolerate heavy doses of disappointment, fine print restrictions, and false promises based on blind optimism coupled with naivety.

C'mon man, cut the kid some slack. He just wants this thing like we do. At his age, I was the same way, as I am sure most of us were.

Now that we're older and have been scorned and beaten into submission by the world, we know better, but it's no reason to rag on him

Back on topic, I'm very curious to see if we will ultimately discover all of the true reasons for the liquid release date, or if the launch will simply fade into infamy without those questions being resolved.

Either way, as long as the Nexus is in my hands before the end of the year, I can deal with it :D

So it goes something like this:
1) Google creates ICS
2) Google sends ICS to Samsung to create a phone around it.

2a) Phone is tested and gets out to Europe.
2b) Bugs are located and quickly fixed by google.
2c) Phone works in Europe.

3) Samsung sends the phone to Verizon
3a) Verizon can't figure out the difference between their a$$ and elbow, and breaks the phone and doesn't want to sell it anymore.

I work for a consulting company.

If they are still sending out units for testing it doesn't sound like the December 8th rumor has any validity at all.

My brain tells me not to put any faith in these dates and people with "sources" but my heart just wants to believe them so bad that I find myself actually being let down when yet another one is proven to be made up.... Sad, really...

Anyone notice how he hasn't been around today. Yesterday I am sure was a school day. Poor guy is probably hanging his head in shame/disappointment :(

I think that sums it up pretty well

Like those of you, I also emailed a few people on the executive email list this morning saying that I had two lines out of contract and waiting for an upgrade because our old OGDs are dying.

I just got an email back from ExecutiveRelations@verizonwireless.com with a complaint case number and a personal email from someone with the title Executive Correspondent to call back between 7am-3pm with her direct line.

Did you guys also get this email?

Can you make sure to inquire about LAUNCH in 2011 as they declared in their October 21st Press Release?

Here's the link: Verizon Wireless Introduces The Galaxy Nexus By Samsung

Thanks in Advance

"Consulting Company" could (and usually does) mean just about ANYTHING.

it doesn't mean he's getting a unit to "test" it, per'se, could mean he'll be testing it with "their" product or the company the consulting firm works for's company.

No response.

GMK83, can you give us any more detail about the kind of testing you'll be doing? Is it first testing, or last stage "we're almost ready to roll this out" kind of testing?

I don't know about that. The word has been spreading fast about this device on the web. The iSheep I work with have even heard about it. They all know me as the Android nut and they keep asking me if I got it yet.

I thought the exact same thing about the Droid Incredible a year and a half ago, and they couldn't keep it in stock. They sold out quickly, couldn't get them manufactured fast enough because of a shortage of screens, and had to switch screen manufacturers.

I'd like to nip this in the bud before it turns into a rumor. The unit I have coming for testing has nothing to do with working out bugs on the phone. I'm not in any way testing the unit to find bugs or lack there of. The units coming to us are for personal use for myself and our firm to try out.
