HTC Amaze Camera Hack (Unrooted Too!)

Thanks Carrie, I actually like this camera.

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. :) Just letting you know that there are new versions on the original link and Portrait now works on the zip one. I would presume the same is true of the apk but I haven't used it so I don't know for certain.

Those new versions were already up when I installed the apk a few days ago. I guess I should have noted that I installed version .11.

I installed the hires version but don't have the higher resolutions available.

Yeah, I didn't want people to get confused if they read the original post and install an older version. I am really enjoying this app and think it helps maximize the camera, especially for people who don't like to tinker with the settings.

I agree. If it wasn't for the amazing panoramic camera that everyone is putting in their roms now I'd drop them and go with this one full time. But until we get a kernal source they can work with from the amaze I'm planning on running both cameras and switching back and forth. The amaze is really a nice program but it just isn't complete yet.

Hi gang! Miss me? I've sure missed you cats!

Ok.

I think that guy is on to something.

I found some of these taken with the new Rezound, using backlight HDR (high dynamic range) looked VERY impressive -

I am really digging this camera. Especially the HDR Backlight Mode. I had some fun with it this weekend:

Does this have this feature?

In any case, I'm looking forward to trying out this new Amaze camera - and just in time for holidays!

I still have not updated to the latest release as I have been busy with work, but so far I like what I see and yes I kn ow some features still don't work, but for a Phone camera app I am pleasantly impress so far. ;)

Back at ya! No matter where I wander, count on me to come home. :)

OK, I can't wait to try this baby out!

I've tried both versions, but I can't see a difference between the hires and lores APK's, is there a difference?

I can't get the zoom to work, no biggie, but everything else works ok though I'm not sure I see a huge difference; apart from file size: stock camera shot = 500k, amaze = 1mb, what? How come?

On your phone, you won't see a difference between the higher resolutions, as the Evo 3D scales photos to fit it's screen. Transfer them to a PC and you'll see that higher resolution pictures are just bigger. I picked 1920x1080 because that's the resolution of my desktop.

I took two photos, one with each camera app. Their dimensions are the same; 2560x1440, the only difference I can see is that the Amaze image is double the filesize, but it certainly doesn't appear to be double the quality.

I'm using the 1920 version of the app because I couldn't run the larger one in 3D (I must have a newer handset with a smaller second camera sensor).

I'll keep the app on my phone but I'll mainly use the stock camera, aside from the UI there is precious little between them. On Amaze I can't access Image Adjustments or White Balance, so on the whole it's a little disappointing, especially as the guy who developed it is no longer working on it according to the start of his post.
