Root Droid Bionic at 5.5.886 upgrade path?

My wife's phone is at 5.5.886 and I want to get it to the OTA. Is ther a way to get it to the OTA without wipe/factory reset? I have read how to do it but I have not found a way to do it without wiping.

Thanks for the help!

The OTA has not been released.

It is assumed that the OTA will retain all your settings and installed Apps when you install it.

Again ... it has not yet been released ...December or January is the current projection.

How the OTA releates to the various "leaks" currently out there will not be known until the OTA is released.

There is a way, if you're referring to the leaked update.

If you apply the full 5.7.893 update, you will be fine, no need to wipe.

Do not apply anything newer than that, though, as newer updates are breaking root.

5.8.894 is the newest leak, it is thought that this is the soak test. You can still retain root via forever root. The only way you can get it to install is being 100% stock 5.5.886, kernel, radio, system, everything. If you took any update to .893 it fails to install and you're possibly off the update path for now or until a fix is released.

That being said I would personally wait until we know what the actual update Motorola is going to push out is before flashing or you end up being stuck like those who made the jump to .893.
