Help, every day sense reloads itself, at different Times as well, I can be on the web , or in an app. Wen I press home its as if the phone has restarted and loads all the widgets back up. Any.ideas. factory reset. Or send for a repacement? Cheers

Shut down the phone every night ;)

Like Stuart, I think too, Sense 3.0 needs too much memory of the Sensation's humbly RAM.

Honestly, that's mental... Surely HTC test these thing, using a different launcher completely voids the reason to get a HTC, as sense is its biggest feature for many. Ive tried adw which wad seamlessly smooth on my desire, but was actually a bit choppy on the xe.. bizarre

I would start removing all the apps you have installed. And then re-introduce them bit by bit to see if one is causing the problem. On another thread somebody reported that removing FriendStream has stopped it so far, but he says he will report back if it has permanently stopped it.

Otherwise take it back and demand a new one.

The only bit of sense that you'd bypass is the launcher itself, not all the other nice bits like keyboards, etc. The only downside is you also lose the ability to use the nice sense widgets, but there may be an app floating around which could let you use them still.

Hey guys, im new here..

So I'm browsing the net looking for a fix for this very same issue.. And I'm actually kind of glad that I wasn't the only one experiencing this random rebooting.. Do you guys think this is a software issue?
**btw I haven't rooted my phone yet cos I am waiting for the warranty to expire before I do something drastic to it.

Hi guys,

I got my XE two weeks ago and i was the one who posted about FriendStream. Unfortunately it didnt make a difference. The phone constantly rebooted still. I rooted it and still no avail. So i sent it back to dialaphone and they have sent me a replacement. Haven't got it yet, so will wait to see if this is a standard problem or a problem with a particular batch.

If it is a problem with memory, then this just isnt on. If you need to customise the launcher etc, then you may as well get a galaxy 2. Phones should work out of the box. So im a bit peeved about it, especially after i showed HTC loyalty after the Desire!

I shall post back if the next one restarts too. If it does i shall change the launcher, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that I shouldn't have too!

what has HTC said about this issue? In the past couple of days I've had a few random phone restarts as well, and am getting a little worried. Also on a side note my iBeat headphones remote has stopped working!! little worried on all o this coming form iPhones whereby any probe were sorted in a Apple retail shop in a few mins....

I will hold out to see what happens

this isnt solving the problem, just giving u a replacement,, its hopefully solving YOUR immediate problem, a poster already stated that dialaphone gave them a new handset. in all cases you can only hope that a new handset is problem free..

Update - got a new xe from dialaphone yesterday and so far (fingers crossed) not one restart. Put all the same apps on there and same set up and it seems to be fine. Maybe this is a problem with a certain batch, my last one was definitely broken straight out of the box and this problem seems to be on allot of the sensation forums.

= If your phone keeps randomly restarting, send it back.

(btw massive props to the s-off guide on here. Using it I rooted for the first time and then returned it to s-on in order to return the phone and it all worked perfectly.)

Mine is being returned tomorrow for this issue, the problem is that the phone seems to get progressively worse with time. Ten days after owning, mine restarts sense everytime I leave the internet and after closing email and some applications.
Never had such a buggy phone and how many people seem to be having similar problems with a top of the line phone - what was HTC thinking releasing this phone with sense 3 using so much ram. Other HTC sensation owners complained of this problem I have since noticed so why did HTC not fix this for the xe by putting in 1gb of ram!!!!

Never again HTC never

It may seem like a lot of people are having problems with this, but, in reality, for the vast majority of users it is simply not a problem. Otherwise with the number of sales of the Sensation in the last few months it would be front page news.

I use mine for very intense processing, like sat nav etc and have never had this problem in the 3 plus months I have been using it (touch wood). No consolation to those unlucky few who have the problem, but I keep wondering whether there is some buggy app that is causing it rather than Sense. I don't know what of course, because I obviously don't have it. But I do have Sense 3.

And the Sensation is the third HTC phone I have owned, Touch Diamond and Hero being the other two, and I can honestly say I have not had any real problem with any of them.

This. I nailed it down this weekend. the stock web browser has started to do some really strange things (ever since I deleted a bookmark that I have no recollection of adding in the first place) in that the browser will freeze, or not even attempt to load a page when I select the URL in the browser bar.

Sure enough, when I hit the home button then to leave the browser, sense would crash and restart (note - it is just sense that restarts for me, not the whole phone, I keep the weather live background while it is doing it)

Interestingly it hasn't happened for a day or two - since my phone was last powered down completely and recharged. could it be ANOTHER issue some how connected too how the battery holds its charge? surely not? :rage

Im almost 100% this is a hardware problem, and like i said above it may well be with a certain batch. The reason i think this is a hardware problem is that there was no one app or widget that caused it, it just kept happening. It happened within the first half hour of getting it out of the box and got worse. I rooted the phone and it kept happening. I have had a new one for 4 days now and it hasnt happened once! I havent rooted this one yet (gonna wait till im 100000% this phone isnt broken) and have downloaded the same apps, so there does seem to be an unlucky selection who got a duff batch of XEs.

The new one is excellent though and i have fallen back in love with it again. Plus sending it back wasnt much of a hassle in the end.

Now my reboot fun started when i downloaded the latest update of Doubletwist. Mind you, I don't say it has actually anything to do with Doubletwist, it just started then. It kept rebooting till I deleted Doubletwist totally. I guess the update was just pushing Sense over the edge, for the rebooting is clearly a memorything, as my other phone, the Samsung Galaxy S2, has the same problem. You just have to be careful with endless downloading. Though annoying, I look at it as another hickup in the relatively young Android system, which will be tackled.
