In before the haters (who have been proven wrong repeatedly) start going on about how "Windsock" doesn't know what he's talking about. Seriously, it makes you guys look foolish. He contributed massively to the Droid X scene, and provided me (and many others) with the SBF's I needed when I first bricked my device.

Did he create them? No, but his sources made it possible for me to get them when I needed them most. I couldn't care less what his personality quirks are, because he comes through when it counts.

The Droid X forum was a great, positive place to talk about Android. I'm very disappointed in this one.

How inconsiderate of us out East, forgetting that it's not even post-office hours for the country. Sorry to tempt you so early.

On topic for a second - that enlarged screen size, does it include the space that turns into the home/back/apps buttons? Or is that just the screen's viewing real estate?

Total screen is looking to be 4.72" and viewable screen left when smart buttons are up is still a whopping 4.43" - and I guess both are viewing real estate, it just depends if the app is displaying the smart buttons (normally) or not (watching movies or whatnot, I think).

By the way, in that link, I show the comparison measurements to a 4.3" 16:9 display - might be of interest as well. ;)

I think this goes for all out of character moments in here...I think we hit a frustration point. We got testy, upset and it wasnt our finest hour.

In all fairness, the Droid X forum was much like this one, pre-launch.

Still, I've been very critical of P3 Droid for his personality, his look-at-me and if your nice I'll give you a crumb attitude, but I've NEVER attacked his development prowress. I've been quite the opposite, praising him for his great work on the DX and other platforms, and with his TBH counterparts.

We all want P3, he does truely do some great work. But his expertise is with technical matters. He honestly has no more credible release info than many other insiders. He gets his release info 3rd party, just like the others.

Fair enough and good for you for sticking up for your friend. Hopefully he didn't take any of the comments made on here too personal. People can be an emotional fickle bunch.

Send him our thanks for making us want to drink in celebration tonight. :D

You weren't around when he said VZW wasn't going to get the Gnex at all. And went on and on and on about it. And then VZW announced it officially the next day.

That's where most of this comes from.

was thinking it could be an average, but (4.43+4.72)/2 = 4.575. who knows where that mysterious 4.65 number came from.

If this is true, it really is an odd thing that Google and Samsung are using the 4.65 measurement. Perhaps they're using that number for one or two reasons:
a) 4.7 may turn many people off?
b) they don't want to take the on-screen buttons into account (I know that math doesn't necessarily add up)

Your thoughts?

If it was measured in PenTile inches, they woulda advertised it as 6" or more. :p

Maybe Samsungs/Googles measurements were the chord of the curved screen arc. ;)

I have never heard of the dude before this forum, it just seems a little ironic that one of our members diggs around finds and the Nexus pics on Verizon's website and gives us all some renewed vigor and the all the sudden P3 after being somewhat quiet for a season pops up with these tweets that indicate he's in the know. Personality quirks is what makes you tolerable or intolerable.
