Carrier IQ on stock Epic GB?

Has anyone with a rooted but otherwise stock Epic 4G checked the ROM for the Carrier IQ rootkit that Sprint supposedly includes? One of the guys on XDA created an app to check for it, but you need a rooted phone which mine isn't. Just curious as to whether or not this thing is on our phones and what information it's collecting. Sprint claims they use the app for performance & service statistics, but the researcher at XDA who created this app says that it does keystroke logging, password sniffing, and other really crappy stuff.

If this is true, this is the best argument for rooting/romming your phone yet.

Not sure about the latest GB update, but all previous stock ROM's for the EPIC do have Carrier IQ.

k0nane is dedicating much time to remove all traces of Carrier IQ, and has updated a CWM flashable file to remove it on EI22 ROMS. So if/when you do end up rooting your phone, you can either flash it yourself or verify it is included in the ROM Feature List.

Yeah it really blows that Carrier IQ is allowed to do this kind of sniffing and Sprint signing off on having their spy app installed on our phones. There should be a lawsuit against both companies. I'm really surprised the government is letting them get away with it. Then again I am positive they are taking that same information for their own use to keep an eye on us. This is a violation of our right to privacy but then again we lost that once we started using the Internet. Definitely need to root my phone now since the Lookout app has verified Carrier IQ is on the phone.
