Thank you for the information. We appreciate your willingness o contribute. Is there any speculation on the new radio?? I guess that will be for units that are still in production. Seems odd that stock already in warehouses will have a different radio than later versions, but I don't really know.

It's simply a firmware/software update. The hardware inside the phone hasn't changed.

Is this from your job? I know Verizon is coming to my office on the 5th to show off new phones, but didn't get this or anything.

Sorry to do this to you guys but there has been a slight miscommunication from my contact. Apparently the information I have received about 4.0.2 being the majority build on release may have been slightly outdated. It is very possible that 4.1 may be the build you will see on your devices out of box. Once again, I do apologize for this confusion and please disregard my original post (here) until I am able to reconfirm a few things about the device itself. I will try to follow up today and get back to you guys soon as I have new information.

EDIT: Just to clarify, dates have not changed.
Any idea if the 4.1 update will enable USB On the Go?

Also, could someone with Twitter ask P3Droid this same question? I'm really hoping a custom kernel won't be needed to unlock a feature that Google has advertised for this phone.

Thursday 12/8/11 1:00 PM Eastern / 12:00 PM Central

That's looking pretty good for a drop on the 8th! I know when I worked for VZ we often didn't get training until the day customers already had a product/service.

I apologize for the skepticism but...no date on the device = no news...I've been thru too much...I appreciate the "maybe" news but as of this far this changes nothing...we've all seen cellebrite posts before...just sayin'

All in vain my friend.

Its just like getting in a fight in traffic because a driver cut you off.
You can pull them over, jerk them out of the car and pound their face, get back into your car and drive less than a block and another car will cut you off.

Just scroll/keep driving on by and have peace......... :)

Thanks for your info. It IS info that has been diseminated already, and still unable to verify if your info is corroborating the original info independantly (obviously it becomes multiple times more valuable if that is the case), or just repeating it. But like I said last night, information seems valid regardless, and I don't want you to think the info is not appreciated, even if some are a bit skeptical. If you would like to, I am sure Steven would be happy to verify your credentials via PM to protect your identity, and vouch for your authenticity. Then most skepticism would disappear (there are still a few that even question The Source, even though Steven has vouched for him, is why I say MOST).

The Inside Source Paradox is interesting. Someone inside enough to have credible information can't prove their credentials because doing so risks termination and/or litigation. So being vague IS the way a true inside source would be but it's also exactly how a troll would act.

Personally, I buy the dude(tte)'s story. I may be opening myself up for disappointment but it feels right somehow.

Woah, I missed all the drama with the Windsock, eh? Is everyone satisfied that he has 4.1, or no?

He's a moron, but he's usually right when it comes to software stuff. Release dates and carrier info? Not so much.

Yes there was some slapping and spanking going on in here last night.
But nothing else has changed much.

Thanks for the info!

I am curious though, how could they get 4.1 on all of those phones, when they're already boxed/shipped and supposedly in warehouses? (I *think* that 4.1 just came out very recently?) It would maybe make more sense that 4.1 would be available as an OTA perhaps? (Just trying to be realistic here.)

I'm VERY excited about this silly phone...now...GIMME! :)

So can you guys explain to me how a device in a warehouse, in a box, with no battery will receive an OTA that was not yet created when the device was shipped in its box without the battery? Sorry... I'm still not buying this.
