12/18/11: Amazon accepting orders again!

Same here, I wonder if that means they sold out of there preorders?

I preordered the first night. Shipping date for the tablet says estimated January 5, 2012. I chatted with Amazon rep about this date. Although the date is an estimate, the lady said that Amazon underestimated the demand and that preorders are now indeed sold out. All you can do is sign up for an email notification for when they'll be available for order again. Asus seems to be dropping the ball here. They seriously need to ramp up production.

Yes, but SSD is much faster than microSD, no hassle w/ transferring app/media data, and you have the option to add a microSD on top of that if you want to.

naturally true BUT (1) is it THAT noticeable in the end and (2) a SD card is less than $40-50 but the tablet is $100 more and then you always have a 32gb card ready.

That being said, I kind of admit I wish I would have PO the 64gb and now you cant PO anymore and I don't want to cancel and loose my spot and so... rock & hard place. I also want to stick with Amazon as no taxes (+$40 savings) and free ship (more $$ savings in some instances).

This isn't Asus' fault yo. If Amazon under estimated the demand, that means Amazon didn't order enough from Asus to begin with. Asus can only make enough to satisfy their demand.

I said in my post that Amazon didn't order enough. I'm still concerned that Asus isn't going to make enough to meet demand. If Asus had plenty, there wouldn't be a waiting list to order from Amazon. Amazon would just keep ordering as long as orders come in. I just want to see Asus and all of the Android manufacturers grow the tablet market and take some Apple shares. Asus is in a good position with this highly spec'd tablet to take some of that "apple pie".

Perhaps I should have worded things differently, but hey, I had just ordered the Prime and I'm totally itching to get it. I can't say with any certainty that they have, but history shows they have before. This thing is huge, and I just hope Asus can produce as much as demand commands. I also hope they do some advertising. Preorders must be pretty huge. Imagine if they start advertising this thing so non-techie folk learn of it. Apple needs some more competition. It only gets better for us as consumers when competition is fierce (and fair...I hate the constant Apple lawsuits).
